Explorer rear disks on a stang.. anyone have any input?

I just saw an article to swap in a later model rear axle in to an older explorer for disk brakes... The explorer rear disks look larger than the Turbo T-bird and SN95 rears. Anyone have information on this?

Well here is what I found out on different sites. The flange is the same as any other 8.8 rear end. People have installed them on 9", 8" and 8.8" units. Rangers, and older explorers along with older, 1st gen Stangs have used them. The cool part that seems to be the selling point is the E-brake is a drum brake not the rear disks. Also it seems this makes for a larger diameter rotor then the T-bird.
