I need a new rear end for my 6 to 8 swap and i have heard about using an explorer rear. Is this a direct bolt in or maybe minimal adjusting? I am almost positive I can find an explorer rear end and I would like to have rear disc and they came standard on the explorer i think. What year rear do I need to look at?

well my neighbor down the street used a fox body 5.0 8.8 rear in his mustang and just cut the perches and welded the new ones on it... said its an inch longer then stock but with the right wheels it doesnt matter.... i havent done this myself though but am considering buying a rear with gears in it already and taking it to him to put the mounts and everything on for me. For now my 8inch will do until the car is all done

i believe the problem with the 8.8 form the exploder is it is an offset pinion and you need to shorten one of the axles and tubes. i think there is a thread on this some where around here.
