First, the export brace, can anybody tell any diffrence in the repro ones versus the OE ones? I was looking in my NPD cataloge and they have the repros for like 40ish but the shelbyish ones, because they have even holes, are like 150ish.

Second, monte carlo bars for I6 cars. NPD also has one of these but will it work in my car with a v8 or will it just work with the I6?

The difference between the exports are the number of grooves in the arms, the quality of the chrome and the fit. (no matter what they are still a pain to install)

I would imagine the I6 ones would work, but why. The normal straight or curved will work on most v8's and are less expensive!

I have one of the normal v8 ones, mounting holes don't line up. I would have to cut the taps off the end of it and make new ones that line up.

Mdjay, which export brace would you suggest, just got done reading about your car....nice.

Is the TCP unit worth it?

I'm not completely sure what you are talking about. The only diffence between the I6 and the v8 one is a different bend in the bar. The holes should be the same bar to bar. A little drilling might be in order. Someone may have changed the fender aprons in it's history.

As far as the TCP one is concerned, they do the same thing as the stock ones. It's a different, more modern hot rod look.

IMO The best functioning one on the market is the Maier Racing one, but it can be a pain to work around because it's all one piece.

I don't understand what either of you are talking about. A Mustang body is a Mustang body. The export brace bolts to the shock towers and the firewall. It doesn't care if its bolted up to a car with a V-8 or an I-6. If it won't bolt up, then there has been some body flex somewhere. The dimensions of the car didn't change because of the engine size.

He was questioning the difference between the I6 and v8 monte carlo bars NPD sells!

Somebody must have changed something then because the holes don't line up, not even the same pattern. I guess I'll just have to fab up some tabs for the ends.

OFF TOPIC MDJAY: I was looking at the engine bay pics on your car. What is all the polished boxes for where your master cylinder goes?
