EXternal wastegate question

some of my firneds were debating on how an external wastegate works.... if the waste gate spring on has a 6 psi spring then is that all the boost u can run .. if u are runnin a exteranlly wastegated turbo? someone explain how this works instead of us argueing between oursleves :damnit:

No, the spring pressure is the minimum boost you can run...then you get a boost controller to run more boost.

It's the same for an internal gate...ours have a 8-10 psi spring, hence the reason we can't run less than that on our cars.
