EZ WIRING vs PAINLESS

I am planning on rewiring my dash panel. All the wires have been cobbed up by the previous owner and many of the colored wires have been replaced with black. I also want to upgrade the fuse box.
Does anybody have any feedback about the products sold by EZ Wiring. I see that the EZ Wiring 12 and 21 circuit kits are substantially less expensive than the Painless Wiring kits. ANY PREFERENCES?

I used an EZ wiring 21 circuit kit, so far no problems whatsoever, all I have left to hook up is the wiper switch and heater controls.
The 21 circuit kit is a bit much though, too many wires to hide under the dash!
I think I would also consider the mini versions, there is not much room under there.

I don't see the price $$$ either. Go with EZ IMO

all the aftermarket wiring harnesses are going to be about the same these days. painless is better known than the others because they have the most advertising, and were one of the first on the market.

I called painless for some help locating an ignition plug and they were not interested in helping me at all.

From what I can tell the EZ wiring kit is everything Painless's kit is except half the price.

Thats what I couldn't understand from the pricing. Figured if the EZ was so much less expensive it had to be less in quality. Service is criticle, I have nevered wired anything. The thing that bothered me most about the EZ was that, from the pictures, it seems that the kit does not have any of the connectors that the Painless has.

The EZ kit comes with a whole bag of various "crimp on" connectors, zip ties, fasteners, etc.

No, but I replaced all of my gauges at the same time with new Autometer ones.
So I am not a good example of tying it into the old gauge harness. Sorry

I also bought insulated spade connectors for all of my ty-ins. that way if I made a mistake, all I had to do was unhook the connection and route it to the right spot.So far it has worked pretty well.

Seriously, I have made over a dozen calls and an equal number of emails to Painless and they have always been EXTREMELY helpful.

I bought the 18 circuit kit and it would be hard to figure out how to use 21 circuits in a classic stang. Mine has a circuit for the 4X4 too, hehehe. One option I chose includes a trunk-mounted fuse box, it helped clean out the under-dash mess considerably.

I wont comment on the EZ kit since I've never handled one, but the Painless kit is of very high quality, my only real complaint is that their instructions are not made for electrical neophytes like me. That explains the numerous calls to tech support.

I used your illustrations and downloaded the instructions for the painless kit from their site, that combined with the EZ instructions answered all my questions.
I would also consider a trunk mount if I had to do it over again.

No, this was before I actually purchased any harnesses, talking to their reps at car shows, etc. After I purchased the EZ wiring harness I called painless about a part I could not find anywhere else. The guy that answered the phone not only barely spoke english but didn't even know they sold a mustang specific harness.

Now for the embarassing part...I was looking through my documents the other day and saw that I had fugged up my drawing for the light switch, and then saved it AND published it to the www...AAARRRGGG! I know I can recreate it but figured if anyone was sharp enough to save a copy it could save me some effort. Did you make a local copy by chance?

I think I have a local copy at home, I am at work today so tomorrow I will look into it. I'm pretty sure I do have it though!
