LoL, a lot of new cars have no maintenance issues. My 04' 5 series BMW has no maintenance issues either but I'll say it again, the bumper sticker on it says I'd rather be driving my Ford. After having driven several SUV's, Z28's, BMW and subaru sti, - I'd rather drive the stang any day of the week. (except when it is real real hot cause I took out my a/c)

that is a very good idea.. also what head gaskets are you running?? what were they torqued down too? as you said in one of your posts.. the deck may need to be decked.. so check it with a straight edge.. if it is out of wack.. then yeah you shoudl get it decked,, good luck

I am not sayin that you are a bad wrench turner, but maybe its time you let someone else look at your problem. I am sure there has to be a mustang guru shop in FL. Ask around on here, there has got to be a someone who knows someone with a good rep. and again i am not sayin that you don't know what you are doing but look at it this way you could continue to change head gaskets every 15 miles, and hate yourself, or you could bring it someone and bitch at them till its right.

also, you could try posting on the 5.0 side, and see what turns up.

Well, it depends on how frustrated you get with it, too I guess. Kinda like Guero. He worked & worked. And we tried helping. He knew what he was doing. But then had to end up taking it to a shop. Sometimes that has to be done. Then there's Kyle, lol. He's changed his head gaskets countless times. He kept trying and finally, he got a set that worked for him.

I'd at least check the deck (or have checked). May want to take the heads to a machine shop to have checked again, too. I don't know the history on your 185's .... but I had a friend that went through 2 sets of BRAND NEW Edelbrock heads until he got a 3rd set that wasn't warped somehow. Only time I've heard of that happening, but it happened twice for him.

well guys, she is almost back together i have a mustang guru helping me this time, he is the obsessive compulsive type and builds mustangs on the side, so if something happens this time im blaming it on the block. as far as torque 35lbs then 55lbs then 70lbs and 80lbs under the valve cover. so far heads are on and lower is on along with the timing chain cover and water pump oh and power steering an a/c bracket, i snapped a rocker bolt of in the head (oops) so tomorrow im going to buy all new ones just to be safe. the one thing im going to do different this time is when its back together im going to let it run for about an hour then go back and retorque the heads and intake bolts. hopefully this time coolant will be flowing normal, also im going to run new oil through it for that hour and ill change it again..... i will know more tomorrow so keep ur fingers crossed for me.

are you certain you torqued the head properly on that side? dont sell it yet. i know how frustrating it is. my car has been parked since january with bad rings. if you need help, you are only about an hour away from me. I just skimmed through all this stuff but did see the water in the holes part.

Just in case you don't know

When putting on the intake, you'll have to go over all the bolts 4 to 6 times before they hold torque.

You then gotta go over them again after a couple of heat cycles as you WILL find a few loose.

If you did not do that, it is VERY likely that is how the water went where it should not be.

ok guys so far so good!!!!!!!! fired her up today and took her around the block!!! autometer read 250+ so im like wtf i unhooked it and rehooked up the stock gauge reads like this C l H right smack in the middle. no biggie right? so tomorrow i will change the oil again and recheck the coolant and set the timing!! all seems well!! STUPID GAUGE!!

You could try checking calibration of the gauge in a pot of water (using a turkey thermometer as a point of reference).

Checking the ECT reading and interpolating the voltage and/or resistance could be useful too.

its still sitting in the garage being diagnosed.

As for the drinking, maybe we should have a "94-95 stangers whose cars are ****ed up and the owners want to get wasted and forget about it" meet somewhere. Preferably with lots of alcohol, and lots of girls.

it seems you have it resolved, but some things i didn't see ask.

What kind of head bolts or studs? What are you putting on the threads to lubricate them when torqing(sp?) them. motor oil or moly lube etc?

Hopefully you aren't buying the cheap fel-pro gaskets?

And as far as the gauge goes, it sounds like that would be an air pocket, maybe burp the system again.

why would u put a bumper sticker on a new 5 series BMW? i hope u meant its one of those license plate frames.

LOL! No, it is a sticker. Really, I am not that impressed with my BMW. I like it but the Mustang is a lot more fun to me. The b'mer is nice for long trips or days I need A/C but it impresses me no more than the last Acura I had. It is impressive to some people and that is about it. O' the brakes are wha timpress me the most. They feel like freaking BEAR CLAWS and don't fade!
