Can someone explain the differences between the two? I've watched videos etc but am still confused on the subject. Which would be recommended for a car that does see some street time not just a drag car. Pros and cons? Etc.

I've done a lot more research and face plating is the way to go. Lasts 3-4 times longer. A lot less maintenance. Thanks for the info

The odds are that unless you have three streetable cars, you track prepped Mustang will end up being your daily driver backup. That means you will be faced with the difficulty of driving a car in a manner for which it is ill suited.

A car with a faceplate transmission is going to demand more of the driver when driven on the street. There is very little synchronizing action on the dog clutch engagement mechanism used in face plate transmissions. While it is true that the faster and harder you shift them while racing, the better they work, that approach does not work well for street driving. It requires some effort to synchronize the speeds of the two rotating parts to get them to mesh smoothly and quickly without grinding. On the street that means lots of revving the engine and double clutching to get it to shift properly.
