I have a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 351C-4V with factory A/C....but it has been removed. While Im restoring this car Im reinstalling the factory A/C. Ive been gathering parts but I need to know how many pullies I need....Ive been looking at books and it seems there are two idler pullies, a drive pulley and the clutch pulley...is this correct? Any help is appreciated...clear pictures of the front of a 351C w/ factory A/C would be great! Thanks.

the water pump and crank pulleys have more grooves than a non ac car and even more depending on whether the car has power steering or not. there will also be the ac compressor clutch pulley an idler pulley and a tensioner pulley (also sometimes referred to as an idler pulley) i'll look around later and see if i have pics of the correct setup for you, cooking dinner right now so it will be a little while.

Those pictures are good. Do the tensioners/idler pullies have any springs or adjustment pieces on them? Thanks for the help. Any more pictures anyone has would be great!

No...those pictures are great. I ordered what I believe to be the correct brackets. Just waiting to see if they work now. Thanks.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner, unfortunately I don't have any pictures of mine from when it had the A/C.

Bottom pulley is a 3 groove. Water pump pulley is just a single groove. Everything else is as you see in those pictures, with the adjustment in that idler/tensioner pulley that bnickel described and as shown in the picture.

Good luck!

you are correct. i went back and looked at those pics again and there was one that showed the single groove wp pulley and the three groove crank pulley pretty well, the rest of the pics are just general pics of that engine from the long block to completed state in these pics and they are all after all the accessories have been installed and after the shaker has been installed as well. so there aren't any good detail shots of the front dress without the fan and/or shaker installed. this is pretty much the last pic that show any of the ac system pieces.
