so I got pulled over in this FINE state of Illinois today for having window tint. I have never tinted the car ever and always heard that the Carlite film on the window was an anti-glare film and was Ford's doing? Is this true? My initial search has turned up nothing and I need to find out before I act a fool trying to fight this "ticket". If I am in the wrong then I will certainly do the right thing, but would Ford sell a factory option that wasn't 50 state legal?

Correct, I beleive it was an option, not a standard feature though.

My car has it, and it in no way obstructs any vision in or out of the vehicle... I don't see how it COULDN'T pass any legality test.

My side tint is so dark I roll my windows down at night when I'm driving in residential areas, so I don't get surprised by joggers/bikers. Never been pulled over (no speeding tickets either thanks to Mr. Passport).

Judging from your avatar, your windows are tinted. That is not solar tint. Nearly EVERY vehicle today is equipped with solar tinted glass. It used to be an option where if the vehicle was equipped with A/C, the glass was solar tinted. Nowadays, since every car had A/C, pretty much every car has solar tinted glass.

It is more of a reflective coating than tint, and BARELY darkens the window. It's legal because it's not even tint really.

But looking at your avatar, your windows have been previously tinted and it appears to be an illegal shade.

Got any better pics to verify?

i have been stoped once in a year and a half for my tint, and headlight covers, in the middle of the day(but i have 5% all the way around) anyway the cop was cool about it and let me go.....
