Fair Price for an engine?

So I'm going Sunday to pick up a complete 5.0 out of a 1989 Mustang. It's complete from ECU, Wiring, Harness, Everything. Basically just a take out of the car. My question is firstly will this for sure be a MAF setup? Also what's a fair price. I already know what he and I agreed to but I want to know what everyone here thinks. The car he pulled it out of had roughly 90,xxx miles on it as well.

Probably somewhere around $450 is fair.
If it's really an 89 100% it should have mass air.

Remember, 5.0 explorer engines (which are better, but you have to re-use your accessories and electronics) cost between $500 and $750. (some for even less than $500 depending on where you live).

With how bad 5.0's are usually beat, and the abundance of 5.0 explorer gt40p engines out there, i wouldn't even be considering one from a fox.

Look for a 96, it should have gt40 irons from a cobra.

With just the addition of a cam, the explorer engines produce a good 50rwhp than a fox engine with e7 and a stock intake.

So the price we agreed to is $250. I'm sure I can get something way better for more money but I'm moreso looking for something that has the complete EFI setup for my classic. I think I'm really looking to pay for that and $250 for the intake, ecu, wiring harness, injectors, fuel rails, sensors seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Does that make sense then?

Also I think 1989 is a better year for me because the wiring harness doesn't have all the extra sensor requirements for stuff like airbags and whatever else came around after 1990 like I've been reading about. Basically I just want the easiest swap of the EFI into my classic for the cheapest price.

$250 is a pretty good number considering you are getting everything.
The computer and harness alone would cost you $200 on ebay.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I recently sold a computer for $150 and a set of E7 heads for $125 (no, im not lying, he paid $125 and didn't try to talk me down).

$250 is a good price. I was going to say you may want to look for your closest you pull and pay scrap yard. There is one real close to me where you pay 2 bucks to get in and all parts have set prices no matter if it came out of a mercedes or ford escort. A complete engine from my nearest yard is 250 with a 25 dollar core, and there are quite a few 5.0 explorers in my yard even with the intake still on them. Worst case you could sell the heads and find a cheap set of E7's.

Ive literally given those heads away before!!! DAMN!! lol
