Fan blades rubbing bottom of radiator shround. Broken motor mounts?

I have a '91 LX and I have noticed that the tips of the blades on the engine fan were chipped on the same spot on each blade, then I saw that the blades had been rubbing the bottom of the fan shroud. I read somewhere that this might be a sign of motor mounts gone bad, otherwise I have no clue why it happened. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Motor mounts and/or trans mount.

Yea. Mine did the same thing and I replaced the fan and clutch when I rebuilt the motor. My motor mounts were toast.

Exactly. Not enough people mention the trans mount but if it goes bad it can let the engine roll forward and that'll give you the same fan problem. But yeah i'd check both.

Yeah I wasn't sure if this should be in Talk or Tech, thanks. So far it's sounding like the motor mounts, thanks for the input, I would have never thought of the trans mount, I'll definitely be loking at that too.
