fan/radiator light keeps coming on?

just bought 98 and stupid light keeps coming on.the fan is working and the coolant is full.i cant figure this thing out.its not on as soon as i start the car but after a few minutes there it is.any idea's guys? :damnit:

Make sure your mixture is right. Too much water & too little coolant will not let the float come up. I run (75% water/ 25% coolant) in the summer, and my light stays on. The float may also be sticking. try a high pressure nozzle on a water hose to get the gunk off of the shaft.

My 99 stang started doing the same thing one day after i went through a big puddle. I couldnt figure out why the light was coming on. Eventually i just flushed the coolant and the light never came back on.

Proper flush and fill should fix it. I think the problem is the mixture like jstreet said. Mine always comes on and stays on for about 5 mins when I drive the car. Then it goes away, I don't worry about it because I know the coolant is full.
