Yea that's a good point, I'm not looking to buy someone else's headache.

I think it comes down to the CD changer (something I loved on a previous car) and the transmission. I've had the T-45 and I had no issues with it. All the problems with the 3650's scare me....

dont let this be the difference between buying the best (in shape) car and turning away.

buy an aftermarket deck if a cd changer means that much. save the stock radio and enjoy the car.

i love my t-45..wish it was a 6spd though...

The button also looks horrible.

01-04. There's no other reason to like 99-00's except the two single din radio bezels, just like the 94-98 cars.

Freakin cd is stuck in my 6 disc

I agree about the t45. My old 00 gt took the abuse, I havnt been hard enough on my 3650 yet, but its holding up just fine

And I also agree on someone else headache....but once in a while you get lucky and find a good car that wasnt a headache....I did

i like my double single din setup. i have a single din radio on top and a trio of autometer gauges where the cd player should be.

then there is the wing that looks much better than the 01-04, especially when its moved back a bit

i vote 99-00, but if you can.... keep an eye out for 99 or 01 cobra's

I had a 99 and have an 04 now. I do like the 99 wing better but I didnt like
those ugly side scoops. TC on the 04 is a plus IMO, I mean its easy enough
to push a button to turn it off. I have the 6 cd changer now and have no
problem with it but I would rather just have the single tray, cause I forget
whats in there and I lose the case's.

Agreed, but i'd swap them for the clear cornered ones anyway.

After reading through this thread, i might go with the 99-00:

I really see no differnce lol I'm gonna change the hood soon on mine so mine only differs from others by having the t-45 and the "ugly" TC button (it's a button lol...)

Go 4v, like an 03 Mach 1, it will be within your budget if you look hard enough.

99-00 with a Mach 1 grille delete/lip, smoked headlights, and spoiler moved back.

Well I'll get the mach grill/spoiler and the smoked/clear lights regardless.

I was looking at Mach 1's earlier, but I don't think that's direction i want to go.

I get more fun out of modifying the car and 'making it mine' so the more I spend on the car itself, the less i have to spend on changing it. Plus there isn't much i'd change about the Mach 1 so that takes all the fun out of it.

I say 01-04. They don't all have TC. My 04 GT doesn't have it.

As for the wing, you can always take it off and it will look better anyway.

I submit you an example, my friend 306Notchback's 01 GT, spoilerless, shaved, and lowered:

P.S. - I beat the **** out of my 3650 and it's still fine so far.

I paid 8500 for my 04 and would recommend it to any one. It's just style, IMO get the lowest mileage 99+ you fan find.

1999 35th Anniversary GT, or 2000 Spring Feature GT.

Two cool models, both get the T45 if a 5 speed. They also have hood and side scoops as an 01+ would, the 35th model gets an 01+ wing and the SF has a 99-00 wing.

Get a 98 if you happen to get one of these years. (you can get them with return or returnless style fuel systems). They have obdII on them and can be tuned like the 99+ cars. 96-97's can only be done with a chip.

96-97 are OBD 2 also and can be tuned with a SCT x3 or any other hand held, there all the same from 96-04, 95's and before were OBD 1....

I'm starting to think it might just be easier to add the scoops to an earlier car.

Good point about getting a low mileage car though, that's going to be a priority. I regret selling my '99 so whatever i get, I'm hanging on to so it's probably better to get something with low miles.

I favor '01-'04 because that's when Machs and Terminators hit the streets but the '00 did have the Cobra R.

But if it's the GT you're in the market for I'd go with the latest year you can find and lowest mileage just because it's newer. Not much difference in all those year GTs.

Check into the bullitt. They made a lot less of them then Machs. I love my car and telling people what it is, I get asked all the time "whats the diff between the gt and the bullitt?" You get some of the most comfortable seats available in a stock mustang, and it was born wingless Plus, I love the color.
