f'd up!!! now what!!!

ok ive been porting these gtp heads for a while now during christmas break, well I went a little too far!! I was working the intake port and I went into the pushrod hole, so should I sleeve it? or just weld it up and smooth it in? Im thinking sleevin would be the best. oh yeah these things are going to make power lol....

you do know that if the ports are that big you will have a power band of like 5000-12,000rpm. lol.
thats if you can afford the sheetmetal intake and 2 dominators to go with it.
might need some 2.25 valves too.hahaha.

BTW: port upward and not so much out and never down!

answer to the question: epoxy works good. (a buddy had that happen with a set of BBC bowtie heads) went into the underside of the valve cover.

lol, naw it wont be that crazy, ill post up pics tomorrow after work. the ports are stock on the intake, just the pushrod bulges, are ground down flat(which now I know is a little too close for comfort lol) It should pull well with an xcam and 6200 rpm, on a stock bottom end... will definately be a sick street car when tuned right!!!

Im not really sure on the epoxy thing...

ya me either, id say take it into a shop and have them look at it and see what an engine bulider thinks is best option to go with!

This happens because the P heads pushrod hole is very close to the port wall. Use a sleeve made from thin wall brass tubing and epoxy it in place. Hobby shops will frequently have the tubing you need to do the job.

I got this tip from http://www.diyporting.com/Sleeves.html Be sure to read the article since it has some very good help. The whole website is dedicated to do it yourself porting on SBF engines.

Damn, that sucks. I sold a guy a Maruauder upper intakes as he ported so much that he went through the top of it. I was like man you ported it the whole thickness of the plenum, what were you thinking??

oh no mine is actually controlled lol, I have a purpose not just hacking on these things. Ive got the one head completely finished as of today, just need to polish it and sleeve it, although instead of epoxy brass im going with a steel sleeve and welding it and then smoothing it down. dang ive been busy but I swear im gonna get pics up!!!

edit: after reading the diy thread, I might just do the epoxy thing, seems like it will hold up fine!!
