Alright, Ive gotten all my idle isues worked out. car idles nice with b cam but feels like it has no power. I checked the plugs and they look good, no vaccum leaks that i can find. Im running 14* timing. One thing is when i bought the car the guy filled it up with 87 octane. I dont have any pinging though. ive cleaned the throttle body, iac, egr, maf, air filter. when i punch it in 1st it barely breaks the bald tires loose(with lots of wheel hop), grab second and the power isnt there. i might be over exadurating but it dont feel much faster than my wifes f150 king ranch 4x4. another way to put it, my other bone stock 90gt w/aod will blow the doors off of it.

almost forgot, its an 89 Gt with a t5,b cam and gt40 intake.

wow..when i installed my "b" with ported gt40 heads and lower mine would blow the tires off in 1st and 2nd. and this was prior to the blower. however, i did advance it 4*. what's the rest of your combo?

i just bought the car so im still going through it. this is what i do know...shorty equal length headers, k&n filter, b cam, gt40 intake, SVO 1.6 rockers, some kind of BS cold air, off road mid with flows, under drive pulleys and smog delete.

Make sure the rockers are adjusted right. If they are making any noise then readjust them till they stop. When I put the cam in my car it was a dog but adjusting the rockers more helped.

Put some better gas in it and play with the timing also.

Run the codes. See if you have o2 codes or something else that would cause power loss.

Well my test light took a dump on me tonight before i could get the codes pulled. I did change the fuel filter and it seemed to help some. it will kinda light the tires up in first, and bark second pretty good now. The power just still is'nt there though. i guess i will continue my jorney tomorrow when i get another test light...

I don't see where you say what gears are in it.
For a relatively unmodified car, the gears make all the difference in how fast the car feels.

UPDATE!!!!!

Ok so i put a fuel gauge on to check the pressure. At idle its aroung 35-37psi, give it some throttle via TB linkage and it spikes to 40psi for a split second and falls to 28psi or lower when initial load hits engine and its reving up. unplug vacuum at regulator and and it idles at 40 psi and once again falls as load and revs are added to engine. I was'nt able to test it while driving but i could only imagine how low the psi goes under a "full" engine load. I just changed the filter 2 days ago, anyone else concur with a faulty fuel pump? also just today it over heated while driveing and developed an intermitin huge surge at idle when AC is on. could this be from Faulty fuel pump? sorry for the long post Chris

To add to above... i just checked and the part number on the MAF was FOVF-12B579-A2C which i believe is for a 4 cylinder. would this make a difference?

the fuel pressure is definitely a problem, i would say that pump isn't supplying near enough volume if its dropping to 28psi

I changed the pump yesterday and put a holley one in it. It definetly helped out alot. I was also having a problem overheating. I noticed the maf was outta 4cly. Put in the right one and it seemed to stop the overheating...hmmm
