Few issues with new clutch (Hissin and friends comeon it)

Hey, I went to Portsmouth VA for a wedding a few years back. I ended up getting a ticket right off the main Highway. It was a horrible speed trap the the cop was driving a police mustang.

Go and buy the clutch kit and take it to them and have them install it at no charge.

Ok. I got the car back tonight but only had a few minutes to drive it. They replaced the throwout bearing (again). This seemed to have helped but I don't think its perfect. I did check under the hood and the FWA is still screwed out so far that I can actually grab it and move it up and down. Is this normal?

The noise/dragging issue has been temporarily blamed on clutch discs in the rearend. I the owner of the shop I took it to drove it with me in the car and he says that he thinks the discs are sticking at slow speeds (specifically after right turns) and recommends that I add some Ford friction modifier. He also noticed a small rattle and said it was the exhaust moving against something....they fixed that rattle last time it was in.

This is just a horrible gang bang of shady stories...one after another. OK so now he claims your vibration/dragging noise is your clutchpacks in the rear end?!? Well did it make that noise before you brought it to them? They didnt do anything with the rear did they? The friction modifier should already be in there....should be no reason to put more in there...especially if no-one has touched the rear end.

Secondly...how much did they charge you to "rebuild" your entire clutch assembly? I hope it wasnt any more that 160 bucks...b/c for that price you can buy a decent performing HD clutch kit directly from ford....and everyone here KNOWS it will fit and work flawlessly.

The exhaust rattling on something is definitely possible...especially b/c they need to remove/reinstall it when doing the clutch job.

I would just stay after them until the job is done right and you are 100% satisfied. Dont let them keep coming up with excuses.

I changed the fluid in the rear about 9 months ago and I didn't add any friction modifier. I read conflicting things so I felt it wasn't necessary....maybe it was. I'll add some this weekend and we will see.

They charged me the same for the clutch to be rebuilt as they would have charged for a new clutch from the parts store.

I'll definitely stay on them until I'm satisfied. The owner continuously makes comments about how he would have handled the charges differently if he had known the car was originally an auto but that is his problem. We live and learn and I hope that this will cause him to put a policy in place to "protect" himself.

I don't think I was officially in portsmouth. I had to get off the interstate and drive for about an hour (I think) before I was in Portsmouth. The cop got me right off the interstate. And gave me a ticket. Every time I enter VA I get a ticket (well, I've only been there twice since I started driving but that is still two tickets).

Well, we had a 30 minute conversation over the phone that ended after he committed to giving me all my money back. So I just go the check and now I have to find a real transmission shop to fix my new problems.

I'm glad I at least got my money back even though it'll probably cost more to fix the current problem.

I am glad that they are returning your money. Take it to a real trans shop and they will fix right or they should.

Never seen a cop in a 5.0 around here. disturbed where are you around here in portsmouth. Portsmouth is to cheap to buy a real cop car LOL
