Ok so i picked up another fox and have some issues i need to adress asap which are the following. I have a pulsation when stoping and a low pedal- plan on throwing pads and rotors in the car no biggie.

- have a slight shimmy on the highway and the wheel is off and pulls, no issue here, gonna do tie rods and ball joints anyway just to be safe and tires soon after that.

- HERES MY QUESTION- two things i have to ask the first being i am getting a creeking when turning the wheel and i assumed that it was tie rods given my story up top but i looked into it some more and find that it seems to be coming from the steering shaft itself. Now if it is what could be worn i think it is just the universal joint in the steering shaft and if it is has anyone done one and how hard is it to change?

2- When i put the car into to first or reverse and let off the clutch i get a mushy feeling through the drive train, no pinion noises or anything like that its just you can feel the torque transfer through the trans physically moving. Sound like a bad trans mount or anyone else have another idea? thanks for looking , jeff

The steering shaft has a rag joint that connects the column to the steering rack, usually wear out over time. The one on my 1980 is completely broken, just haven't replaced it yet. Auto zone sells a replacement for it, only like 10 bucks

Maximum motorsports makes a really nice steering shaft, and Energy suspension makes nice motor & trans mounts. You might want to stop by the vendors' forums to see who might have a good deal on them.
