Fiberglass hoods....Pins yes or no?

ya know im just wonder what make of hood everybody has, Cervinis and so on and so on........maybe this is the difference?

I was cruisn at 35mph tops!! I just left a stop light probably 70-100 yrds ago an WHOOSH the hood just flew open slamming into the winshield, luckily not shattering it!!! The whole cowl area is pretty messed up, with only a few minor chips in the hood and some hairline fractures on the hood! I was extremely luckily!!! I just took off the front sway bar and took it around the block to see how it handled! Needless to say i dont no how it handles yet!! I couldnt imagine what whould have happened if i was goin like 70mph! Dumb mistake on my part, shoulda got pins when i got the hood!!!

you guys that installed pins where the stock bump stops are...how did you do it exactly? i have pins to install and want to put them there and i want to get it done before painting it...or should i just have the body shop do it?

Tell the body shop where you want them and see how much they want to put them in. That way if they screw anything up they will have to fix it. If they only charge you a few more dollars it'll probably be worth it.

Yet another vote for hood pins here.. My car had the fiberglass hood when I got it, but I didn't like how it moved around when I drove the car. I didn't want to be the victim of another flying hood so I opted for a set of $15 hood pins when I got my car repainted.

Hmm, must be an omen... Mines front edges always flutter on the highway so much it scares me to death. Mine popped open to the safety latch today at 15-20 MPH because it was windy and wind got under it. And now I read this thread... Hmmmmmm....

Note to self, must get pins soooon...

I had a Z-71 trucks steel hood fly open once at around 50 MPH and trash the hood, windshield and roof of the truck, lotsa duckies to fix. And a definite uncool day, and a bit startling to say the least...

I should know better already.
