Wish I was anywhere but here
Well I've owned my 86 GT t-top for 7 years now. I've gone crazy modifying it and finally got it to the point where I'm satifsfied (at least short term) with it's performance. The car runs high 10 second 1/4 times with some left in it. The only problem is I've taken away the nice driver with the spool, the solid bushings, the roll cage, high stall convertor etc.

I'm not sure if it's a short term crisis but more and more I keep looking at classified trade ads looking at a nice trucks or stock weekend cruisers. I know I'll never get back what I put into it so it's not really a wise decision to get rid of it. But I do have three kids and can't haul them around in it.

Anyone else get like that?

+1 when ever my car starts acting up here recently I'm just like F***K!!!!!!!!! And start looking to, trying to justify putting a rush on getting a termi cobra. But then I fix it drive it and all is better! I was raised around foxes... My mom and dad raced them when I was a little guy, I've learned I'm always finding something to fix and trying to find a reason to keep it.

If you get rid of your car, you're a homo

that is all :D

Haha you cured me! I better keep it.

I have a silverado and the wife has a van. I dunno I guess I'm being dumb. I've been thinking about maybe doing a mod fox or something different but I'd have to sell this car. I always thought that when my day comes I'd be buried in it before I sell it!

Maybe it will pass, I have to stop looking at racingjunk.com, giving me too many ideas.........

I always start thinking about it after I drive my wifes king ranch. Nice and smooth, don't rattle every bump I hit. I'm not constantly listening for something wrong. And it's at that time I realize if I didn't have my fox to keep me buisy I'd probably end up back drinking again.

You know I get like that at times, especially afer I finish a sweet high HP street car at my shop. I took my car which was freshly painted and ran 10 sec times and was street worth to a 25.5 sfi cert'd chassis, motor plates, mini tubs, spool, glide, race brakes etc and now miss having a street car. My Powerstroke F350 is fun don't get me wrong but it just isn't the mustang, and my GSXR1000 is a blast but after driving this cobra while I was tuning and braking it in I realized how much I missed my "street" car.

I just finished a 93 Cobra that has a big bore DART based 347ci, worked AFR225's, a Canfield spyder, a nice mild RNH custom solid roller with a 76mm turbo, TKO-900 and A/C and all the creature conforts. The car makes 700HP on low boost and drives like your grandmas Buick. I wish I really had something like that right now, it looks stock from the outisde and will tear up nearly anything cruising around at will, and I'm convinced if I put 18psi to it I can make 1000HP+.

I think we all get that way at times, especially as we get older. "Did I really just say that...lol Im only 33"

i havent had this problem with cars yet, but often times when i finish a project and there is nothing more i see i can do or want to improve i loose interest and want to get rid of it. so maybe you just need to do something drastic to it again... maybe make it streetable =P

i can personally say, i got the same problem, and i moved on it and sold my car. bought my powerstroke, and i absolutely love my powerstroke to death, but at the end of it all, here i am again craving another foxbody. i wouldnt get rid of it man you've had that car as far back as i can remember, try and picture how your gonna feel when you goto the track with your street car and see whoever you sell your current car to, either banging out 10.50's, or missing gears and going 13.5 embarrassing the hell out of your nice car... i know the worst thing for me was seeing my car after i sold it haha

We all get in a funk like this from time to time. I am having the same feeling but from the opposite end of the spectrum. I love my 89 GT, its in near mint condition, some work done but still very street friendly. I am wanting something to compete in the winter ice racing series (Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club) and something i could auto x next summer and this 5.0 is just too nice to cut up or stip down. I keep coming back to the conclusiuon that i am not willing to give the 5.0 up and need to find another car...crazy? maybe but thats where my head is right now. Anyone know where I can find a clean Integra GSR or 98-99 Subaru 2.5rs 2 door? LOL

Wow that's all I needed to hear. That thought is more than enough for me to keep it, at least for now. Because that's exactly what would happen.

Thanks for the input everyone :nice:

well i always have this problem just buy another stock one, i love my 2002 gt its stock and it starts runs and there are 0 issues and gets 27mpg on the hwy.

I love my notch but i have had much more fun in the stock mustangs ive owned for some reason

yank the auto:mad: and put a 5 speed:D back in it!
****Reminder to self do not replace TKO with automatic****

My goal is to hit tens but not really in a hurry cause I still want to enjoy it on the street. Must find tens with the TKO I am only .57 from goal so I am getting close.

I just was out cruising Woodward Saturday night and really enjoyed that 5th gear to idle around with min rpm even with a 4.56 rear gear.
