I paid $6k for my 94 GT back in June of 01, and it had only 43k miles on it.
I think $ for $ the 94/95 are the better buy if you are looking to do major mods. The 5.0 is known to go 200k without a rebuild, and the rest of the car is essntially the same as the 96-98's. If you just want a nice daily driver, then a 96-98 will definitely be easier to find low mileage and bone stock. Most 5.0's have at least exhaust/timing done, which not everybody wants.
I plan on keeping mine for a year or two more, do a couple more mods (intake, headers, etc) and sell it when it has over 100k. Then pick up a 2-3 yr old 03/04 Cobra for somewhere close to $20k with under 30k miles.
