I paid $6k for my 94 GT back in June of 01, and it had only 43k miles on it.

I think $ for $ the 94/95 are the better buy if you are looking to do major mods. The 5.0 is known to go 200k without a rebuild, and the rest of the car is essntially the same as the 96-98's. If you just want a nice daily driver, then a 96-98 will definitely be easier to find low mileage and bone stock. Most 5.0's have at least exhaust/timing done, which not everybody wants.

I plan on keeping mine for a year or two more, do a couple more mods (intake, headers, etc) and sell it when it has over 100k. Then pick up a 2-3 yr old 03/04 Cobra for somewhere close to $20k with under 30k miles.

Yeah, 94-95 is the best year. You get the luxury of the sn95 interior, plus the power of the 5.0. You can't go wrong with that.

more like handling of SN-95, and torque of 5.0

If you get a 96-98GT, the only mod I would do is a roots supercharger. I had a 96GT with basic bolt-ons and drove a friends GT with the FRPP blower. What a difference. You can do the install yourself and it makes the car a ton of fun to drive around town. Yes, you could do the 99+ head swap but I think the FRPP blower is the way to go.

The 5.0 is great because you can mod them cheap and they make good power/TQ once modded (over 275 RWHP for about 2k).

I definately like the looks of the 99-04 better but I will not be able to afford that and mods. I saw an ad in the back of MM&FF about a 97 Cobra and it was awesome looking. And with the mods he was running about 700HP to the rear. So I guess my question should be, is it possible to find a 97 Cobra under 10K? Thanks big time for the input...very helpful indeed

Some dealer here has a low mileage 97 Cobra vert that can be picked up for around $10K (may be less). I don't know why you couldn't get a coupe for $9K.

I actually meant the block itself.. The stock internals obviously need to be changed... I thought everyone on here would know that without me having to type it.. Didn't mean to mislead you guys..

I have a 96 GT with 72K miles on it and have had no major problems yet. Dont let anybody tell you that 96-98 are bad just because of there heads. People are figuring out the NPI heads are not as bad as people make them out to be.

I also have a 98 and love the car. I'm not a huge fan of the body style for the 99+ and that's why I went with a 98. No matter how you look at it it's a Stang and it's a V8. So the heads are not the greatest but they can be swaped. Just another bolt on in my book. The cars are fun to mod no matter what year and even funner to drive. :worship: Teh Mustang

Okay so to finish this...I will plan mods in the future, as in S/C, gears...so on and so forth...Which would be the best to mod between the years of 95-98, Cobra or GT... Thanks again guys....

Cobra, hands down. But a little more cosly as well. If you can afford it, the 96-98 Cobra's are sweet cars and really rock and roll with a few mods....especially a blower!

Definitely a 96-98 Cobra. They are becoming cheaper and have the most power out of those years. They start with 305HP at the flywheel and with a few cheap bolt-ons (H or X pipe, Cold air, catback, etc.) they will easily get into the mid 13s. Can't say the same for any of the other cars in the SN 95 body style. And that's the end of that.
