I'm sure glad I live in So. Oregon cause I couldnt stand living in the other S.F. (Portland)

Bagdad on the willamette...;)

As for the "it was Bin ladin and al qaeda, not Iraq" comments, they are essentially one in the same. We are not in Iraq because of 9/11/01, we are there because Sadam harbored and provided comfort to terrorists, including members of al qaeda.

It's OK, the election is over you can speak freely now and admit the truth ;)

Considering that Saddam was very effectively neutered before we decided to invade, I think it seems reasonable to say that the real reason we are in Iraq is because it is a Bush pet project (W and HW both). If you honestly believe that it has to do with harboring and providing comfort to terrorists, then I would be interested in hearing your opinion on Saudi Arabia.

He should be, Portland city-dwellers are pretty scary people. :) Personally I believe that homophobes are just closet homos. I can't see any reason to get in a twist over what someone else does in the privacy of their home...

What an ass.

Dude, Paul I think he was checking out your ass...;)

As for Saudi Arabia, I'm still trying to figure that out myself. Same for Iran and Syria (sp?). Strategically Iraq is ideally positiond from a military perspective, and was easy to justify because of the public oppinion of Sadam and his open defiance of the UN. That's probably why it was further up on the list than the other countrys, plus the fact that Saudi Arabia is still on the "friendly" list makes our relations there a bit different than it would be with an "outlaw state" like Iraq.

With all the people in this country - this is the best we can come up with for our President?? I work with numerous people every day who have IQ's double that of Bush....and this man is running our country?? - making decisions that affect all of us? Granted, it's a job few people would want......but I'm still in amazement. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe Kerry was the answer to all of our problems but the comparison in competence between him and Bush is like night and day! All I have to say after watching the results state by state last night is thank God I live on the West Coast where at least the majority of the population has some intelligence!

God bless - because God knows we'll need it the next 4 years!!! :flag:

Wow, you work with people that have an IQ of 250? Maybe they should run for president. It is rumored that Bushs' IQ is slightly higher then Kerry's. Since Kerry won't release his score it cannot be proved.

Let's keep in mind that Kerry only won Washington by less than 200,000 votes and it was even closer in Oregon. If you look at the results of the state of Wa. and Oregon you will see the same division-the left is blue and mid/right of both states were solid red.

If the democrats on the west coast move any further left...they'll drown.

God Bless our Troops! :flag:

I'm glad this election is over, I am just going to keep my fingers crossed that we survive the next four years. And perhaps some day we can pull out of Iraq and go kick Osama's ass instead.

Dave

We'll survive. Unless you happen to be a dictator in a small country with no real army.

I think that the replys to the thread in here show just how devided America has become. (Good job Bush....) It's sad that people vote on "Morals" and not who is better suted for the job. I think that the Presidents job is kinda like a lawyer, hold up what the constitution says regadless of your personal beliefs, Bush just cant do that. Anyone that says we are at War with Iraq, o sorry i meant " Terror" .....has to have their eyes closed. We had to retaliate somehow after 911 but invading Iraq was not the awnser. Can some one please expalian were "terror" is and how to kill all of the "terrors", ...and why we should spend billions fighting a .......noun when i cant even afford to pay my bills when i work full time and bust my ass and still pay $30 bucks for a tank of gas. ? I'm 23 how the hell am i suppose to afford a house ??

Bush won the election because he used FEAR as a tool to win, making people think that without him in office the "BAD" people will get us. Face reality if terrorist want to attack us THEY WILLL . NOTHING WE CAN DO Regardless of the billions of dollars spend to make us feel better.

Look at all the ships coming up the columbia river, all it whoud take is one dirty bomb in a ship in blown up in the middle of the river. Now,.. am I goin to worry about this every day, No,.... should we prepare, yes, but not at the cost off american lives, Civilans in Iraq the the Debt sky rocketing ..... it's time to face reallity people.( after we wait out the 4 more years ahead)

If you want to talk about IQ's you should look at some of the information about both Bush & Kerry's IQ's! Studies have shown the Presidents with the highest IQ's have been the most flawed. ie Nixon(considered to be a political genius & the most flawed), Carter.

Washington: President Bush is not a bozo; in fact, he may be a near-brainiac.

An American researcher has challenged popular belief and water cooler jokes about Bush's cerebral limitations by arguing - on the basis of available records - that he is not only smart but has a higher IQ than his rival John Kerry.

Based on various academic and military school records including his SAT score (1206), conservative columnist Steve Sailer has calculated that Bush's IQ is between 125 and 130.

That would put him in the "very superior intelligence" category and in the 95th percentile, which means only one out of 20 people would score higher.

In comparison, similar (but not same) records and tests suggest John Kerry's IQ is only around 120, says Sailer in a commentary on the conservative blog www.vdare.com.

Sailer looked at school records and tests both men took when there were enrolling into the US military at age 22 and extrapolated the results to arrive his conclusion

They provide no evidence that Kerry is smarter. If anything, Bush is smarter than Kerry," he concluded.

Popular folklore though has it that Bush is the dumbest American president in history, and one urban legend placed his IQ at a sub-normal 91. A former political rival famously described him as being "born with a silver foot in his mouth."

Sailer rubbishes such reports, pointing out that Bush has two Ivy League degrees (although he got a C average at Yale), while Kerry not only did not graduate with honors from Yale, but went on to do law at the rather more modest Boston College.

Sailor also suggests that Kerry, who was two years Bush's senior at Yale, got in when admission was less meritocratic.

Yale tightened up entrance requirements later, he says, revealing that the "sudden arrival of so many brainy, bookish, leftwing nobodies may be a major reason Bush became so alienated from Yale during his later years there."

Alma Mater to Kerry and Bush both, Yale University, incidentally, is named after Elihu Yale, an English merchant who was the East India Company's Governor of Madras in 1687 when he was tapped for funds to start the university.

Sailer describes the difference between Bush and Kerry in two words: Bush is competitive and Kerry is ambitious.

Bush, by nature and by upbringing in the hyper-rivalrous Bush-Walker clan, is driven by a need to win. For Kerry, in contrast, being President is the end, the goal of the last 45 years of his life.

Sailer however acknowledges that Kerry would probably beat Bush on a current events quiz, "since Bush has never seemed particularly interested in learning about the duties of his job (as opposed to winning and keeping his job, at which he shows great cunning)."

In contrast, "Kerry has been fascinated by the Presidency since his adolescence."

Republican blogs rejoiced at the word of the US President's high IQ, although some conservative quarters are happy to let Kerry bask in the glory of being an intellectual.

"The only election Bush ever lost was a 1978 Congressional race in the Texas Panhandle, where his opponent made fun of Bush for having degrees from Yale and Harvard," writes Sailer.

"Bush resolved never to get out-dumbed again."

This is a bunch of BS and is down right propaganda... "Bush's IQ is between 125 and 130.

That would put him in the "very superior intelligence" category and in the 95th percentile, which means only one out of 20 people would score higher.
"Very superior" doesnt come till 180 not 125-130, heck it doesnt even mentions Clinton, and he belonges to the mensa group which is the top 2%, no I dont like him, but then again I dont like any president!

It very well might be propaganda. But Bush did score better on his Navy tests than Kerry. Of course Kerry wouldn't sign the paper work to make his records public.
In the end it doesn't matter. Bush got the popular vote, & Electoral vote. The majority of the people in the nation wanted Bush over Kerry. The media was totally bias towards Kerry. If you believed the media Kerry was going to win. Its said that of the military vote Bush got the vote 4 to 1.

His morals are what makes him better suted for the job.

When you get a bit older you will understand that.

His morals? On what basis is there any argument that he has more (or less) moral integrity than John Kerry?

Oddly enough, the only people on the entire planet that believe Bush to posess high moral standards are about half of this country. The other half, along with the vast majority of the free world, believe just the opposite.

What seems to me to be the paramount emotion felt today by Americans is fear. For those who oppose Bush and his policies, the fear is primarily of him. For those who support Bush, the fear is from terrorism and Saddam.

(and I'm pretty close to you in age, Eric, so no using that as an argument against me :p :stick: ).
