Must be sad to see your car go when it sells. I think the biggest thing that makes me not want to sell my Cobra is that it'd kill me to see someone else driving it or running it into the ground. Kind of like with a woman I guess lol.

GM has been getting damn close to 30mpg with over 300rwhp since the 90s Its more impressive to me that a v6 is making that power....not that its getting that gas mileage.

I understand its both

But GM has done it with a motor thats almost twice as big....for almost 15years now. So what is so amazing about a v6 that puts out 300hp and gets 30mpg? It sure as hell isnt the gas mileage. Its getting that power out of a small engine IMO.

But honestly, would you take a v6 at 300hp (so what 270rwhp?) and 30mpg or a v8 at 300rwhp and 27-28mpg 13 years ago?

I'd rather have 412hp and 26mpg personally

with the muscle car wars back in full swing, even with the MPG restrictions, I can't see Ford ever ditching the v8. Come on, the hole reason we got this new engine is because Ford realized the 5.0 is THE mustang engine.

Last time i checked, those 13 year old engines hit 412hp pretty easily....

Ford is not in the position to brag about n/a powerplants. They are JUST NOW figuring it out....and its not even proven yet.

Although i will say, it is impressive that are pullin those numbers with such a "small" v8.

That's right...Im the original owner, and I decided that even Though Jose and I have put a ton of work into the car, and we were almost there,
my needing time with the family and getting up in age has convinced me to sell. That, along with the new 2011 400HP GT coming out. Finally decided it was time to get a NEW car. This GT should satisfy my Street need for speed (no desire to go to track)

Please dont use this thread on SN to discuss anthing about the sale since it is agains the forum rules. Let's just keep it to the "dont do it" or "good Luck" posts...LOL

Ill let you know when Im "officially" moved over to the new section of stangnet..Thanks to all who have helped me here since 2002.

This sucks, you are leaving? The king of bling?

While you are going forward, I am going backward. I am gonna get me a nice 1969 302(Not the BOSS, I can't afford those, lol)

I gotta have one of those, every freaking time i see one i drool over those. one of my dream car, Price is fair too around here anyways.

I decided to stick with pushrod engine, I can't do modular, I have one already the 96 with PI heads and other bolt on's. It's just not the same.

I probably sell the 96 and put money towards to get the 69

Good luck to you and your 2011, post some video of your car and the burn outs when you get it, don't forget us 94-95 folks and stop by, I always liked your car, and you are the one of the reason why i start to polish my parts...you are a bad habit in a good way.

Later

IM not buying the 25-26 mpg. For that kinda power and style, I wil settle for 20, which is what my 2001 Honda Accord is getting now, except with Regular gas. My Escort only got 24.

Hollywood: I would love the old stangs, had a 69 and 72 years ago. I just dont have time or patience anymore to work on cars or worry about breaking down.

Nate: Yeah, the power in that little box (both v6 and v8) compared to GM's is nice. But just think..A 400HP+ from a 5.0, N/A engine. After about a year, if there are a few bolt ons that dont require any tuning, I might run with them...

LOL hahahahahaha.

Thats like MSU bragging that they beat Michigan 1 year. (or in MSU's case...a few years). But please open your eyes...what does the bigger picture say? Congrats to MSU (ford) on the recent success....but we still own you.(GM/Michigan) You cant say anything once there is an aftermarket and a HUGE following of guys putting GM's motor from 13 years ago into their mustang TODAY. Every(well minus stangnet) mustang message forum is changing to adapt to supporting guys who put LSX engines in their mustangs.

And....GM motors arent reliable? LOL.

Ford is doing a great job with their drivetrain. But please...dont let the love for the brand blind you of the last 15 years GM has dominated Ford drivetrain wise. Ford didnt even begin to speak of any bragging rights until 2003. And even then...it took a blower strapped to the top of the motor.

I love Ford. I love my mustang. But GM nows how to build a n/a motor....they've been doing it for MUCH longer than ford. I really do hope this new 5.0L lives up to what everyone is hoping it is. But unfortunately....i think it will always be lacking due to the cubic inches. Perhaps an aftermarket block will allow for more cubes....but thats big $$$$$. $1,000 and you've got a 6 liter engine pumpin out 400rwhp with ease from GM

And where is HankyGT? I figured he woulda been in here after i threw him the alley-oop concerning GM stuff.

I LOVE that the big 3 are back competing, i LOVE all 3.

FINALLY SOLD!! Didnt get quite what I wanted for it, but the rebates from FORD are up to $1k, and I qualify for X-plan pricing (about 6-7% discount) so it will be ok for me financially. As soon as I get the final payment for mine, I will go order the new one. GT Premium Auto with CS package, HID, security package and hood scoop.
