I've been researching this for a while and finally decided on DND Motorsports. What I am getting for $4995.

Brand new ford roller block, fully clearanced and prepped for stroker assembly. Will be a 342.
Forged steel crank.
Forged steel H beam rods.
Forged pistons.
DND main stud girdle.
AFR alum heads, ported on the exhaust side.
Custom ground hydraulic roller cam.
Roller assembly.
Roller lifters.
Scorpion roller rockers.
Manley push rods.
Flywheel for manual tranny.
Timing chain cover installed.
HV oil pump, pickup for deep pan.
Canton 7qt pan, installed, with dipstick and tube.
ARP fasteners from top to bottom.
Balanced and blue printed.

Probably leaving out stuff, but you get the idea. And actually, the pan and timing cover were extra. They claim 500hp and claim all dyno's they have done with this combo have come in within 5hp. I should get a little more than 500hp cause the porting on the exhaust side was not standard. They are also prepping the engine for a big shot of Nos. Company says they have gone 10.7 on motor in a 3000# Mustang and 9.8 with a 175hp shot. Will take six to eight weeks to receive and thats good cause I have the entire rearend and suspension out right now. I am totally stoked about this engine. I've always wanted to own a 500hp+ street car.

That engine will not live with a big shot of nitrous. Not in a million years. Good bye block even with a girdle. Especially un seasoned block.

500 hp from that specific set up. I really doubt it. My blown 347 set up would have only made 500 at the wheels with 10 psi of boost.

Anyhow good luck. Still will have plenty of hp though.

Fos...why are you selling everything you own? lol

500hp is a lot out of a 342ci engine. Not saying it isn't possible, but I have essentially the same components on a 393 (AFR heads ported on both the intake and exhaust, solid roller cam, main girdle, ect ect) and I feel I will be lucky to hit 500 at the crank on mine.

The engine you bought will be a screamer for sure, just don't be disappointed if you don't hit 500.

Hell, neither of us have enough tire for that much horsepower anyway.

500 Crank HP...not a problem...if you have AFR185s and the right crank...

Look here for info on 500hp

453 crank hp with a 331 and afr 165 heads.

A 175 shot on top of that...It can be done as long as you have a girdle, but, I, personally would not try it. That means that that stock block is taking close to 700 crank HP. If you REALLY want to spray, Id stick with no more than a 75 shot.

As for the 1/4 mile times that they quote you....never ever go by that. So what...the engine will run a 10.5 NA in the 1/4? You have to have the suspension and the driving skills to get it to run that fast! Dropping a full second from 10.7 to 9.8 with a 175 shot....hmmmmm?

I hope this doesnt come off as a flame post. I know you are proud of your new purchase. Good luck with it!!!!

What intake are you goign to use? I have a nice lil 302 Vic Jr for sale...hehe.

342s can make 500 no problem. Look at all thoughs 800+hp 5.0 guys. Hell, i've seen 1600hp 289s. anything is possible, if you have the know-how.

Sounds like a nice deal you got there, congrats.

Well I did not give "specifics" on my engine. Just hardware. You would be one hell of an engine guy to know the hp without the flow numbers on the heads, chamber size, valve size, compression ratio, and lift and duration on the cam.
No matter, I researched this for months and there were alot of companies making similar claims for similar money, but offered a lot of cast parts and roller tip rockers, with the main girdle not included etc..I priced the parts in this engine for what I could get them for, and parts alone would have cost well over the price of this built engine. If you look at your blown 347 making 500hp at the wheels, I said 500hp. Thats at the crank. Accounting for as much as 15% loss across the drivetrain, that would put yours at closer to 580 at the crank on the boost. DND says they get 625 at the crank with this combo and 13psi boost. So the numbers are pretty comparable. Either way, it should be a hell of an engine.

Probably will go with a smaller shot, and probably will not use it but once in a blue moon anyway. I know what you mean by the 1/4 numbers. But it does represent what the engine will do under the best conditions. My car will not be under those conditions and I don't even want to set it up that way. Just a 9" with eaton posi, and 3.70 gears, toploader four speed (hoping to go to 5 or 6 speed later).May bolt on a set of street slicks for occasional run to the track. This is a street driven toy, and I just want to be able to drop the hammer on the occasional unsuspecting C5 and C6. Not taking any posts here as flames, cause everyone has their own opinion and thats cool.
Also, the heads are AFR 185.

Mp67... Don't listen to all the haters. 500 hp out of a 342. Cake. If you got a 393 with AFR's and only get 430 hp, somethings wrong. If you do your homework and get parts THAT MATCH you'll be fine. May or may not be as streetable as you want but very possible.

My 393 made 450 w/ Windsor Jr head and a performer intake. Im guessing it should make just over 500hp with a Vr.Jr. intake and an 850 carb

There has been some cool pics of 5.0 block split in half. I would not hose it for fear of more pics of these 2 piece block pics.

HMMMM. Dyno it and find out. I was quating using all stock flow number's on the heads. Unless they are TEA ported I don't think it'll put out that hp. Solid roller cam.

Yeah I'm selling everything I own to support my crack habit. I mean my projects. LOL

half inch girdle right.

I wouldn't doubt it getting close to 500 at the flywheel. Should be a lot of fun, as others as said I wouldn't put any nitrous on it, will be fast enough for me as is. Enjoy!

I've always found stud girdles helpful in holding both halves of the block together when it breaks into 2 pieces....

Sounds like you guys have broken a few. You must be doing something wrong. As for doing the dyno on the engine, they will be glad to do it before they ship it if I want to pay for it.The heads are CNC ported from AFR, and they flow good numbers on the intake side. They are going to port the exhaust side. The guy doing their porting used to work at AFR. No matter for all the doubters anyway, like I said before, the parts list alone on this engine adds up to well above the money I'm spending, and thats not counting machine work, balancing, blueprinting and assembly. I guess yall could visit their website and doubt the 425hp or the 385hp, or the 525hp, or the 680hp blown assembly, or the 725hp assembly etcc. I guess they are probably lying about all of them.

If that were my plans and had already sank that much money into I would have forked over the cash for the dart block to protect my investment. But to each his own.
