For those who have been around long enough, remember way back in April when my garage got broken into? Finally had my day in court. Didn't get the rip that stole the stuff, but the Judge locked away the girl that sold the parts.

Way back when I was remodelling my downstairs of the house I forgot to shut the rear gate on a Friday evening (Exhausted). Didn't even realize I'd been hit for a few days, then noticed parts missing. Finally they ended up with a little over $2100 in parts and a Paxton SN-92 head unit I'd just rebuilt. A month later a set of my BBK headers turned up on a local car and it unravelled pretty quick. The thief was in jail for going through cars at a local bar and his girlfriend ended up with the parts. She dumped a bunch of them on another boy and he sold the headers to another guy. I got hold of the first buyer and he called her about the blower and she gave it to him to sell to me so she wasn't involved with the sale, but was to get the money. He called her back once I had the blower and I talked to her. Told her I just wanted her to help prosecute the guy that had stole the stuff (her boyfriend that was locked up). Instead she told the police detective some guy named Tommy had left the parts at her house and the thief (Ron Tabler (in jail)) denied any knowledge of the parts.

At the district court hearing she opted for a jury trial without the advice of a lawyer and at todays ciruit court trial she showed up without a lawyer, but brought one of her three kids (for sympathy I guess). The detective and I were the prosecuting witnesses and she ended up not wanting a jury trial afterall. The judge declared her guilty on the premise that she had a huge amount of mustang high performance parts that were not hers (she said they belonged to Tommy) and she was selling them... Since they were in fact mine she has to pay me $2120 restitution through the probation department within one year of getting out of jail. She was given a 18 month jail sentence with all but 60 days suspended and 18 months of supervised probation. As the bailiff escorted her out the back of the courtroom she wailed 'what about my kids'. The judge replied that social services would take care of them...

Merry Christmas... Pretty heart wrenching at the end, considering all she had to do was help prosecute Ron Tabler for stealing my parts.

Yeah, I remember your first post. Glad you got justice. So basically the low-life that actually stole the stuff was using the girl as a Fence thinking "they'll never accuse/convict/sentence her because she's just a mom with kids. Actually, I take that back, I doubt that a-hole really cared, like all thugs, they are just all in it for them, she might have thought that. Of course, she thinks it isn't her fault. There is an example of a great mom, risking her freedom, and children's welfare for a few bucks. The kids will probally be better off in the social system, which I think sucks but the lesser of two evils. She probally thinks she the **** because she didn't "snitch", I guess this Ron guy was worth more than her kids. He might have gotten away with it, but he'll get his in the end. He'll break into a house one day and end up splattered by hot lead.

Did you have any homeowners or renters insurance at the time? Just wondering if you'd been able to get any of your stuff back while you waited and are still waiting for any payment from the bad guys.

Glad to hear justice was served. It sucks to have stuff jacked from your own home.....It sucks for the kids, but I have absolutely no sympathy for her at all. None.

Home owners does not cover auto parts... But they'll probally jack my rates for trying. And if I get anything from her they'll want as much as they paid out to me back...

For him, he's marked for misery. He stole an old Dyna glide and was running around town on it with a wig on... Also broke into my friends lot and stole a bunch of Chevy stuff. Also stole a OEM cowl hood and fenders off of a '71 Chevelle. Cut the hood up and ruined it. He's really lucky he is in jail. I had the guy with the hood call me about draggin him down to the river one night...

Couldn't get anything done this afternoon on the house (sanding drywall ) and ended up taking a nap. Figured out later I was just totally stressed out and drained from all this.

Later while getting ready for dinner I asked my wife what she thought Beth was having to eat. She replied 'Probally her cellmate' 59 and a wake up... Gotta suck to be her.

HAHAHAAAA Hey man glad to hear justice was served, I know you would have much rathered them not steal it in the first place. But as another member said, that thieving mofo will get his one day. Don't feel bad about it she did it to her kids & her-self. The sad part is, is that these type of women have nothing for a self esteem & why they are with bastards like Ron is kinda why battered women go back to the battering husbands. Niegther the mom or dad in that situation puts thier kids first, there are ligitmate ways to make a buck, but they'd rather risk thier family.I can't even imagine why but those are the same dick heads that are the first too bring that crap back to thier house/kids/wife. Just chaulk it up to people making thier own bed & now they have to sleep in it.

Glad to hear you got some sort of justice in it all

Mike

58 and a wake up. Wife didn't see her kids after school today. Friend agree she did it to herself. Still feel pretty bad for getting her locked up...

Did get a lot of work done today, may even go to work tomorow (OT day)

Bad thing about restitution, it takes forever to recover.

I had my car broken into in college a few years back. Luckily there was a sting op in progress by the cops watching and buying from the thieves who actually hit the same truck twice, and my car was the last to be hit. They threw my brand new stereo out the window of a car as the cops chased them to arrest them. luckily, it still worked. I got my sub box and amp back too and they had to pay restitution me and to 20+ people they ripped off. I was getting $45 checks for 8 years. Woo Hoo. That'll pay for a new cassette player, huh (back in the 80's). My last check was in 97 and the theft was in 89.

Good luck witht the restitution. Sorry to hear you got ripped.

I freak when I realize I left my garage side door open/unlocked with all my tools and parts in the garage. I plan on putting a bell on my garage door to ring in the house if the door opens. Then the lead will make ded. No body f's with my stuff.

glad to see something has come of it. i hate theives!

i hope everything goes your way but, good luck getting your restitution money. i had someone steal from me one time, granted it was only ~$100, but i filed charges against him and he was to pay me back. i never saw a dime. i never really pursued it though. you might end up having to pressure someone.

With what happened to the mom and her "boyfriend" you can almost bet that they were both on drugs, and stealing to support their habits. In that case the kids are better off in foster care before the "boyfriend" gets high and molests or kills one of the kids.
