I finally got the wife's '65 Fastback to the track this past weekend. Had some issues with a roller rocker retainer which had us running on 7 cylinders but here were the traction-limited results:

R/T........030
1/8th....8.52
MPH.....87.55
1/4......13.00
MPH....113.13

This was at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY. 80 degrees and on BFG 225/45-17 drag radials.

A 13.0 pass on 7 cylinders is pretty good by my standards. What were you hoping to run? What was your 60' time?

What are the specs on the car if you don't mind me asking.

Honestly, I was looking for mid-12's considering the hot weather and high humidity. My best 60ft was 2.23.

That MPH has 12's written all over, specially if you work that 60 ft down.

There are lots of cars running mid 12's at 107 - 108 mph. A very good friend has a 70 Chevelle that runs 12.50's at 107 with a 1.80 60ft time. Your 113 mph trap speed shows that all you need to do is get the car launced and hooked up to run the number.

Wow, 113 mph speaks volume's. Being you had only a 2.2x 60'. You have an 11 sec car in my book. Let's here the engine combo? What have you done suspension and chassis wise as well? Great times...

The engine is a 393W stroker, 9:1 compression, Edelbrock Victor Jr heads, Performer RPM dual-plane intake. This is backed by a T-56 6-speed, McLeod Streetwin clutch and an 8-inch carrier packed with a 3.80-geared Detroit locker and forged axles.

Suspension is a set of 620 springs in front, mid-eye leafs in the rear w/ shelby style under-ride traction bars. Weld in subiframe connectors are on the car as well.

On the above run, sway bar was connected an we were using 235/45-17 BFG drag radials.

Nice times. Get that thing hooked up and you should be able to do mid to low 12's. That 2.2 60' is really slow, you should be able to get 1.8-1.9 easy Id think.

Man I'm so enivous, I'd love to run that fast someday. My race buddy Vinyl66 is running 113 mph 1/4 and I believe 90-91 in the 1/8. He has a 66 Coupe w/ 347
3.55 grear and Edge Stall w/ M/T 236/60 DR's and 60's consistent 1.7x's w/ low of
1.69 and car has gone 11.87. I for sure think you could hit 11's, it's just a matter of working that 60" down, I think it must be a little harder w/ a manual trans as I have a 4 speed and am really have trouble getting below a 2.1 w/ sticky tires...I to have a 3.80 gear..Maybe I just need more practice...

Lord knows I do. I rarely get the car to the track, so practice on launcing the car is few and far between.
