Finally got them

Well i finally broke down and bought the 373 gears and rebuild kit......what can i expect for a difference from a stock 89 gt..with a few bolt ons.....i just got the car last july and now its time to start modding....does anyone know any place near worcester ma that does gear swaps? amd what can i expect top pay for it along with the speed correction gear on the tranny??

Especially If you have a stick, I recommend wider, stickier rear tires, as without that, you won't have much traction in first gear. More so once you start getting more power from your engine.

Couldn't give you a good price idea though, I build my own stuff. But either way, you'll enjoy the new gears.

Edit: Figure out what speedo gear you need and buy it from a Ford dealership. Its real cheap. Also, you'll want to change the fluid in the rear end after a (IIRC) 300-500 mile break in period. Grab yourself a bottle of friction modifier for the fluid change while you are at the dealership for the speedo gear. Lastly, don't wear nice clothes while changing the rear end fluid, gear lube REEKS, and it will never EVER come out of clothing. As a matter of fact it will probably take a few days to wash the smell from your hands.

I've found that when it comes to oil/tranny/gear fluid changes, wearing gloves (latex or nitrile) works wonders for keeping the stink off your fingers ... unless you really enjoy savoring that smell later on, every time you itch your nose or something.

I got the kit from 50resto.com....i paid like a lil over 300 for the gears rebuild kit combo and i got the plastic gear for the transmission also from them to correct my speedo due to changinf gears....i just need to find someone to do myinstall for me....brown truck should be here next week.
