so if i went to a junk yard what year tuck or van would have the roller 351w, or could i make any 351w a rollor i would get it and build it. and would it be possible to make it low comp to turbo it?
Lets you know about I.D.ing the different blocks. basically older = stronger 69 being the strongest and any can be made into a roller BUT with a non roller block you have to buy the lifters with the link bar that cost like 4 - 500 a set.
1985 or 1989 was the first year of the of the 351w being a roller. I have an 1983 block and its a non-roller. But its a great motor to build, definatley try to find a 1989-1993, they should all be roller. The crown jewel is a F150 lightning motor, its a roller and its forged. You should be able to find the 351w in almost all fullsize vans and trucks. Good luck and keep us posted with the build.....
93 or 94 actually are rollers. All 80s blocks will be a non roller. Strongest are 69-74 due to the high nickel content of the block. Basically the weakest are the newer roller block. Non roller blocks can be made roller for a nominal fee (too much for mee)
