Oh god...Here we go...
So I finally finished my engine kit install on my 94 GT: Trick Flow Street Heat intake, heads, stage 1 cam. I have a BBK 75mm TB, 76mm C&L calibrated for 30# injectors (and obviously the injectors too).
Here's the situation: the car wouldn't start, turns out i was on the exhaust stroke. so i fixed that, but i have to turn the distributor clockwise about an inch and a half to get the car to even start, but i know i had the balancer on 0 at TDC when i put everything together. Is this because the cam changes timing needs? and i know i need to be at -10* base timing as the TwEECer uses that as the basis for all the tables (i think i read that) but is the 0 on the balancer -10* or is it 0*? i'm such a newbie... so if the timing needs bumped i want to do it with the TwEECer, which of course i don't know how to do yet.
Next issue: I don't believe I'm getting combustion in my #1 cylinder as the headers are discolored from the heat everywhere else but on that cylinder. I checked and i have spark, so i guess next i need to see if my injector is working, but when i pulled the plug it had some black soot on it (the car is running VERY rich right now) could this be anything else? i don't notice a miss when it idles.
Also:I have to give the car gas to get it to start about 70% of the time. when it does, sometimes it idles really sloppy, other times, it sounds ok. however, when i touch the gas, the idle jumps to around 2000 rpms for about 2-3 seconds and then back down to 800 or so. this seems to happen every time i tap the gas. i datalogged a little bit, but only at idle and giving it gas in neutral, since it's not really drivable at all at this point, so i'm not sure how useful those are.
And on a side not, it seems i did everything right on the assembly save one thing: i'm leaking a little oil from the bottom of the timing cover oh well, guess i'll tear into it a little later.
so, i know this was long, but i truly appreciate any advice, tips, or suggestions you guys may have. thanks alot!!!
