Fire Extinguisher

I'm going to be purchasing a fire extinguisher today or tomorrow, or sometime soon... I've done too much work to my car to have it go up in flames and now with the turbos on... It'll be a whole lot easier for that to happen. I know I need to get a Halon one... but which brand (if there is one) to get and where can I pick one up? Also, where do you mount it?

I just bought one off from Ebay, Im going to Mount it on the side pannel where the passanger side left leg would be.

I was thinking the same thing you were. Way to much money in the car now to stand on the side of the road and watch it go up in flames and be able to do nothing about it. Once you alter the fuel system to the extent of putting in turbos a SC or a Nitrous then you really should have one of these.

APC? :rlaugh: that'll just probably make the fire worse!

APC makes a alot of junk but as long as you buy a fire extinguisher that will put out electrical/ fuel fires then who give a crap on who made it . Plus it looks nice. I dont think theres a huge aftermarket for in car fire extinguishers besides APC.

I saw this stuff on Hot Rod TV.

Not only does it extinguish, but it prevents reigniting, and you can touch burning hot metal AS SOON AS you spray it.

The pic is the $12 spray can, but you can buy it in containers, and just add your own compressed air to it.

I might have to pick up a can of that stuff. I'd be afraid that the little can alone wouldnt be able to put out the fire if it was too big.

Youre right, but think of a couple of things.

-It's only a few $$ a can
-most of the fires WE would use it on are not too big.
-Those "little" cans put out a GIANT cloud of extinguishing chemical
-It's not really a "replacement" for a good extinguisher, just a quick and simple adjunct to one.

Hope none of us will ever need one though.

Zack, you really should get some type of extinguisher b/c my friend just put a turbo on his 91 LX and it gets really hot under the hood. He looking at getting some high temp wire looms b/c the stock ones started to melt that were close to the turbo pipeing.
