Firing Issues????

Ok My 02 GT isnt getting fire at all it seems like...I mean the starter and engine turns it has compression or it wouldn't lightly backfire out of the H-pipe portion of the exhaust so can anyone help me figure out what the problem is? Hell give me a grocery list of things I d/c I need to find the problem this is my only daily driven car so I'm stranded...PLEASE HELP

Seems like? A good start would be to go get a spark tester and be positive you have no spark. Do you have a set of noid lights to check if the injectors are firing as well? If its backfiring, you should be getting spark or you wouldnt have any backfire at all.

When did this start? Did you do anything or did anything happen that made this start?

If you can narrow it down and say that you DO have spark, fuel and compression, then technically it should start. If you dont have one of those, then you know where your problem is. If you have all 3 and it still wont run, then you probably have some type of timing/signal issue either in the crank or the cam position sensors.

yeah i had a oil leak and then engine was smoking from under the hood some from oil but mostly from the alternator, so i thing i burned it up. Like i said the engine spins i took the valve covers off and the timing chain is tight so i dont think thats it when it spins all you can hear is the starter nothing else i will pick up a test light later today can you or anyone help me solve this problem just give me a list i can go through plz
