Professional Products 75mm TB and plenum for 220 bucks, or a short throw shifter.

Ive been set on the TB and plenum, but I dont know now.

I hate the stock shifter... I can shift fine, but it feels mushy. But I think the TB/plenum is the way to go.

And before anyone says it, gears arent an option yet. I want to do the TB and plenum so the intake side of the engine is done, allready have a K&N FIPK. Hopefully after this is either exhaust or pulleys, or a short throw shifter if I dont get one first.

I think all the mods you listed are good mods but, personaly I
would go with a MGW shifter instead. I hear good reviews on the MGW
and Steeda Tri Ax shifter though. If you go with a intake plenum first
I would with a C&L Trueflow intake plenum and BBK 75mm throttle body.
For the price you can't beat 220 for the Professional Products plenum
and throttle body. Does the Professional Products plenum come polished?
I do know the Professional Products still is made in China I do belive.
What gears are you thinking about going with in the future?

Yup the TB and plenum are polished. Doesnt matter if its made in China to me, haha... just means its a little cheaper to get ahold of.

As far as gears, I would like to get 4.10's, but I do alot of highway driving...

As far as not noticing any gains, I found a few threads where people did say that they noticed some top end improvment with the plenum and TB... I dont see how it wont make a difference though. Im not expecting a miracle difference, but with the intake and exhaust it should compliment both. But you gotta start somewhere with the bolt on power adders right?

PP stuff is polished for the $220 price, it's top quality stuff imo. Get a shifter, you won't notice any gains from a throttle body & plenum, inless you're some sort of computer -butt-dyno-robot-guy. :nice:

What now? The PP stuff is top quality stuff. But he won't notice a difference? I'm confused. Why wouldn't he notice a difference? Better and more airflow, no?

I've heard that the only real gain to a t/b and plenum is better throttle responce. So I've read on the forums somewhere.

I would say go for the shifter though. I have a tri-ax and its great.

Shifter---Steeda or MGW IMHO
I have Accufab TB and Plenum. Better throttle response and nothing on the butt dyno.
Mods that I noticed a difference were the O/R prochamber and LT's and maybe a little difference with the Predator-timing maxed.
And gears-they were the most noticeable mod done to date.

you won't feel it much.

mods you feel

gears, midepipe, shifer, LCA/subframes, cams, longtubes, heads.

mods like CAI, pullies, plenum TB, etc are more like after you do all three you might feel it but it gets expensive.

He won't notice a difference because it's only a 4-8hp gain! That's like the difference between driving your car when its 70 degrees out, and 80 degrees out, you're not gonna notice much. Now, when you're cramming some air (or spraying some chemicals) through that larger tb/plenum you'll see more a more noticable gain than NA (or if you have cams that actually require an increase in intake flow) - though I couldn't tell a difference in "power" from when I went from stock to tb/plenum, though the dyno showed a gain and the accelerator pedal has a slightly different feel (because you're moving the mounting point for the cable, and the cam which it rests on is slightly different in diameter.)

I just don't think it's a worthwhile mod for the cash - but if you gotta do it, go with PP stuff cause the quality is great & it's some of the cheapest gear you can get! :flag: (...except not made here...lol)

For $200 get you a VRS O/R X pipe....that will make a HUGE difference in power. The plenum and and stuff is just minor differences in power up top. The darn X pipe made a difference from 1500-rideline. When you get your car inspected just bolt your old midpipe on, when your done then put the X back on. Only a few hours of work annually.

Here are the 3 things that made the most difference and each of thses were installed at different times.

VT cams= MOST GAIN
Dr Gas O/R X= ALOT
BBK LT headers= ALOT...maybe a bit more than the X alone.

Get the shifter first. I've had a Triax shifter for 3 years now and I still enjoy it every time I drive. I like being able to hammer the shifts without any fear of breaking it. There are a number of aftermarket shifters to choose from, any of which would be much better than stock.

I have a Trick Flow plenum with a stock TB. I didn't notice much performance gain (a little up top), but I did notice an annoying whistling sound.

I'm not saying a plenum/tb is not worth it. I just think that you will like the shifter much more. Oh, and if you need/want to change the transmission fluid, a shifter install would be a good time to do it.
:nice: :flag:

Get a MGW shifter. I have one and I absolutely love it. It doesn't add power, but it definitely makes driving more fun, especially when racing. I always get compliments from people saying how quiet it is, and how short and firm the shift is. My brother has the Tri-ax, and it is very noisy, the handle gets hot, and the springs have really loosened up in 45k miles. A MGW shifter is a must.

Well thanks for all the imput... Now youve really thrown me off, haha.

If I had it my way the first mod would be a UPR o/r X. Heard GREAT things about it, and its still cheap. BUT... I have no mufflers, just straight pipes after the stock H. I like the sound, but I dont think its a good idea to run an o/r X and have no mufflers to keep any pressure in the system. But, I do plan on piecing my exhaust together soon-ish (hopefully). I kinda like the X pipe and Mac catback combo... it still has that nice chambered muffler sound at times, but it also has the snarl that the X pipe is known for.

But... I missed a quick shift today trying to get around a car, it pissed me off. So now im leaning towards the MGW shifter. Wheres the cheapest place to get one? I found one on their website for 180 or something, plus shipping. Anyone know of a better place to buy one?

I dunno though... The reason I wanna get the TB/plenum is cause its still cheap, and that will take care of the intake side of the engine... then I can move on to another part.

You're talking about the UPR o/r X, very interesting. I have one on my car. I first installed a Magnaflow catback, it sounded good but not loud enough. Then I got the UPR X and it definitely improved! It sounds quiet and innocent at idle, but when I get on it, it is loud as hell! :D

Get the MGW shifter. It makes shifting feel 100x better. It's still my favorite mod I've done to my car, including my catted x-pipe. That is, ofcourse, until I get my PI swap and comp cams put in. I'm sure that my cams will be my new favorite then :D
