Well, I ran my first 1/4 mile last night (5 of em actually), and all I can say is....HOLY FREAKIN WHEEL HOP BATFRIENDS!! Sheez, I mean I have read all about the wheel hop issue on IRS cobras, but this was ridiculous. First 4 runs, I bounced down the track and couldn't do better than 14.2 @ 102mph. I know this was my 1st time running on a track, but somehow I expected 13's. So after my fourth run, one of the other drivers approached me and told me that I was losing as much as a sec due to "that horrible hop" and that I needed to get some ET streets tires or swap out for a solid rear axle. He also told me to granny shift or I would snap a half shaft! On my fifth run, I shifted like I was goin' for groceries and expected a 16 sec time. It turned out to be my best run of the day, 13.7 @ 104 with a .560 reaction time! I can't help but wonder what the car would do if it could hook up. Does anyone have advise for the wheel hop issue, and are those tires a good place to start??

When I ran with F1's I could not give it full throttle until 3rd gear. If you were dumping the clutch out of the hole you were surely wasting time and risking breaking the axle. I run BFG DR's and still rive it out of the hole. I run 1.85 to 1.92 60ft and it is easy on the drivetrain. Untill you do some drivetrain mods you better be easy on it from what I have heard. The Steeda Diff bushings, 14mm bolts and DR's reduced the hop almost completely.

I feel you man. I have that same problem. My car is in the shop because of that same problem. I'm getting it lowered,IRS brace, polyurethane diff bushings, subframe bushings, and subframe connectors put on. Hopefully that will work. I'll let you know. People tell me that that combo works pretty well. Yea the wheel hop is nasty!

Thanks guys. Hey Seidler, I noticed your from Westminster. I'm in Frederick, MD and I was running at 75-80 Dragway. Have you ever heard that it is a slow track? I've heard that from a couple of people and I did notice it looks to be an uphill track. Just wondering.
