First run at the track

Personally i'd plan on a new TB, for one because it's new and you can get a better flowing TB, but also because being stuck at WOT scares the pee from me. You could blow your motor because of a stupid TB being stuck.

Yeah it scared me too. Especially when it hit 7500 rpms. I think thats the third time ive accidentally over revved it but the motor stayed together and im very lucky. Ive since taken the throttle body apart and cleaned it. It runs great not and no sticking of any kind. Yes i live in fla so in the mid of jan the temp drops to a freezing 60° here. :rlaugh:

I also noticed it ran a little rough and rich. I checked the fp and its at 36 psi at idle and 38 at 3500, but i guess it could just be the miles. Other than that it runs pretty good. I do need some drag radials but i have 15" centerlines measuring 245-60-15 so i was considering getting a spare set for the rear and getting full slicks. I feel pretty confident i will dip into the 13's with a decent launch and no more sticky throttles. :nice:

I would say you could get into the 13s with your current tires. Just work launch more. I used to get 1.85s on skinny 225/60/16 goodyears. If you get that 60 ft down to 1.9 or so you will be laughing. Set of stickies and you really be down in 13s.

I am suprised no one mentioned this, but is your TB dirty? If there is black carbon build up around there or in the IAC, your going to have problems. I would use carb sprat and spray it down the intake with the car running fanning the TB in and out, that will help clean out the rest of the intake.

Good MPH. I ran 14.2 @ 99.8mph with a 2.3 60ft time with just gears, underdrives, CAI, and flowmasters.

yeah i cleaned it all when i took it apart. It runs really good now. Just waiting for the cash to get an intake. I was thinking the edelbrock performer. Anyone have any other suggestions?

I believe that bbk will be coming out with a new upper + lower and FUEL rail kit for a mere 499 and from what I have read it's gonna be pretty good,
they got the doglegs out of the lower intake.

It will be reviewed in 5.0 m+sf in the next issue so you may want to check that out.

I was thinking about heads but with the milege, Im afraid if the motor was to finnaly go that it may damage the new heads. I figured i would upgrade the intake, and maybe a shot of 100 to 150 until the motor goes and then do a dss setup or maybe chp. What do you think?
