Check out my short video. My first rebuld. 88 block bored .030 oer with new pistons and sdcat rods. Edelbrock performer heads and gt40 intake. 30# injectors and B303 cam. The injectors seem too big as the car is rich and smells bad, but the plugs do not look black at all. Not really sure why. Hoping a tune will correct what the computer hasn't. Let me know what you all think. Only driven it a few times and the power seems to build the more times that I drive it.

sounds very nice man

the combo is still fairly mild, i would actually throw the stock 19lb injectors back on, 19s will feed that combo just fine. the stock EEC is tuned for 19s so putting them back on will result in great driveability and will run great!

not saying a tune wont help it as it sits, but 30s are overkill for the parts you have. and with a relativly mild combo, there wont be much of a benefit from a tune (only thing a tune would cure is the richness and etc the 30s are causing)

plus you can save some cash, a custom tune isnt cheap if taking it to a pro.

just my two cents, you can get a Prom or C&L meter cal's for 19s. if you plan on a blower some more power in the future bigger injectors may be in order but not now IMO

Thanks for the reply. I do want to run spray down the road so that is why I want to avoid 19's. I have considered trading my 75mm maf and 30's for 24's and a maf but I can't seem to decide. I want to give it another week or so and maybe I will trade someone. Do you think 24's would be too much?

24s would be better matched but i still say the 19s will work best. like i said the untuned EEC is programmed for 19s so it will run better.

if your going to run a dry kit you could run the 19s now and once you get the nitrous kit, you could put the 30s on, that would probably match pretty well. but a custom tune would be needed for better drivability and getting maximum power from the nitrous since your having to provide and need to dial in the fuel needed.

if your going to run a wet kit, you wont need bigger injectors, you can still use the 19s, because with the wet kit your adding fuel along with the nitrous, wheras the dry kit requires you to provide the fuel (i.e bigger injectors) a tune wouldnt be as critical here with the wet kit since n20 and fuel are added at the same time, the computuer isnt having to add anything

That is a good point. A wet kit would be best. Are the 19 limited to 300 hp? I would thik that I am at the limit of that right now. I expect that I am around 300 and 300 on the flywheel. I would need a tune for the 24's also wouldn't I.

Mine runs fine with 30#ers, except that it surges for a while when I start it

Really? Did you notice that it took a while for the computer to learn it out? Do you notice a rich smell? Does it bog below 3,000 rpms?

changin injector size past stock will require a tune for best performance.

the computer will never "learn" it out. the EEC only has around a 12% correction ability. and with bigger injectors its going to max it out and continue to run rich until you get a tune.

not saying a car wont drive fine, 24lbers arent a whole lot bigger than stock so a car may drive and idle well. but if you hook up a wideband or get it on the dyno i would expect to see richer than ideal AFRs.

my car currently is un tuned with 42s, the car idles and drives very good but is PIG RICH, so rich its making my wideband read lean alot of the time.

dont fall into the hogwash of calibrated sensors and crap. just maching "calibrated sensors" wont do jack until you tune the EEC and actually change the MAF transfer table within the EEC to mirror whats programmed in the MAF sensor itself.

as for the 19s only supporting 300 HP. that flow rate is only rated to support 300HP, it will handle your engine N/A and thats all that matters. with the wet kit your getting fuel with the nitrous. so all your fuel injector needs to do is feed just the engine itself. now if you run a dry kit your going to need the bigger injector, and are going to rely on the fuel system to add fuel as needed, which will require a tune for maximum power output.

Very good. I called a tuner who tuned an 04 Mach 1 that I had and he said that I would be all set with a chip. He can solve all of the issues I am having. I am going to enlist his skills and most likely 24 lb injectors. Thanks.
