I went with Hose today to one of those Junk yards...$1 entrance and everything else pretty dirt cheap. Since Im converting my tan interior to all black, I decided to get some plastic pieces in black instead of trying to paint them...door sill, etc.

I found a pair of door sills, both kick panels, and Jose got the trunk shocks and a TPS sensor, and I got a tail light assembly for my Escort which broke.. All for $60.
Not too shabby.

For those of you who have a different color interior, you see how the side pieces in the back seat are huge, and are Two-tone...I thought they were separate pieces. I think I will go ahead and spray that piece since that doesnt get too much traffic there.

All in all an interesting experience, and gave me a chance to break a few things.

Thanks
RC

latemodelrestoraton has them for about $50+ each. It's cheaper than the $130 at UPR for the metal ones, but either way it's still a lot of change for a small cosmetic mod like that.

Im guessing the bezel (cup around the handle) should be able to be easily painted since it shouldnt get touched to much

You might be able to remove the handle from the rod or even the whole rod and just swap it out.

I would be care full with the handle bezel as your hands/nails will probably nick them easy. Mine have like a rubber-ish looking coating on them, maybe its a thick rubberized paint. You might want to try that to now that I mention it...probably a lot more durable.

Yeah I've gotten quite a few parts at those places (GT40 heads, cowl cover, wipers). I may need to rummage through some and put a new interior together for my Bronco soon. The ones in AZ are great since most of it is totally rust free.

I dont want to paint these then go through this.. I may just suck it up on this part and buy them.

There are a couple sellers on Ebay that have the Billet ones slightly less than UPR site (and same ones), and the price is right around buying new Black ones from late model resto.

early this summer i went to three u-pulls to find some plastic stuff. walked away with all kinds of stuff.

the sad part is that most of the mustangs were 6 cylinders and were destroyed and picked over pretty good. most of the stuff had water puddles all through the interior so forget about getting some good stuff.

I think a lot of people beat on the stuff and leave it there. I tried finding some gauge bezels and window switch bezels...NOTHING. I barely found what I found in tact. I did find a clock spring though for the 94....$12. DOnt know if it works but it's worth a shot.

Also, it's a great place to find wire harness replacements. I found a decent black steering wheel with little wear, that I would have used if I didnt buy the fr500 wheel.

NO alternator, gauge clusters or power window motors.
Still pretty cool to walk around and check things out.

i couldn't tell you how many wires were just cut off rather than disconnected. it only takes one person to ruin half the car for the rest of us.

People have no consideration. I try and remove before cutting...sometimes you dont have a choice but most of the time people a just lazy and dont care who might need the part they just F-ed up.
