went to the strip last night for the first time ever. went there as i drive it everyday. it dyno'd 29x rwhp/31x tq on a mustang dyno, 4:10 gears, t-5 and my 18's with street tires (sumitomo).

first pass was a 13.4 at 109.
second pass was a 13.1 at 109

best of the night was a 13.04 at 108.9 mph.

quickest run was a 2.04 60' time.
best 60' of the day for me was a 1.98

real happy with the numbers, i know it has the mph for a mid 12 on some sticky tires and maybe not an 18" rim lol.

Congrats. A 1.98 60 ft is pretty darn good for some slick as butter Sumitomo's, & that is a good trap speed. 13.04 is pretty impressive as well. My car trapped a best of 110 last time I took my coupe to the track...

track prep was definately good at first. as the night went on it got worse and so did my 60' times. i did get alot better feel for driving though, so my 60' times came back down on the slick conditions.

everyone started spinning alot after they laid down vht. i never saw them do it, just felt the way the car drove. i know with the better driving i was doing, i would have gotten 12's on street tires if the track held it. next time.

i think im going to get a spare set of 17's and some slicks. 18's definately dont help at the track, haha.

my car has tfs old casting heads, tfs stage 1 cam, systemax intake, 70mm tb, 24's, shorty headers, wc t-5, 4:10 rear, 18" saleens on sumitomo. i did all this on 40 psi tires and my stereo/seats, blah blah in the car.

i might end up going for a custom cam again, slicks and see how deep into the 12's i can go.

I recommend getting a set of 15" wheels for the rear & picking up a set of MT ET drag slicks. If you have Cobra brakes in the rear, you will only need a small spacer to get them to clear the banjo bolt, & they will hook WAY harder than drag radials. I was able to hook a 1.68 in my 03 last time out, & that car has road race suspension with absolutely no weight transfer...

i'd love to, i just have some issues.

i have sn95 rear track width. so i need to get rims accordingly. i had planned to just get a set of 17" bullit's off an 05+. i will do some research before i purchase anything.

If you go with the 17" rims, a set of MT ET Streets in 26x11.5 work well. I have been 1.69 60' on them with 18s out front. I have done better with 15" slicks, but only slightly (1.688 yesterday).

Times look good, 108-109 mph on a sticky tire should be good for middle 12s.

thanks, i will be looking into them for sure here soon.

i also was wrong on my best slip. the time was right, but the mph i listed was off. it was actually higher, 109.5 mph on my quickest pass. i know it has mid 12's in it.

pretty happy with that honestly. custom cam and some minor tweaks would mean low 12's probably.. sweet.

as much of a bitch as the sn95 axles were to install, with the broken pinion bolt and all.. im gonna leave it as is for now. i can get some 17x8 wheels and run a 275 ET street as i've been suggested.

i know there is .3 in the 60' time alone. i also realized i was shifting the car at 5300-5400 rpm's. i am going to get my tach calibrated per the dyno this next weekend so i know where im shifting. i dont make peak power until 5600-5700 and i was shifting well shy of that.

i should be able to hit 12.40's with my mph.

Im pretty nervous to run my car! Ive been to the track alot ever since I was in elemntry school but now ive moved out, Im 18 now and my car is all ready to go but Ive never taken a car down the track, especially w slicks!!

But those are great times! I hope I get close to that!! Great Job!!:nice:

i had never been obviously. i rode for a pass with a friend in his slow car, lol. was able to relax and take in where you need to go, who you need to watch for, ect. so it goes smoothly.

i just feathered the clutch out from 2k my first pass then gave it hell. you will do fine.

More track time and a better 60' would net you probably a half second quicker. 1.9- 60' is pretty good, but a set of drag radials would bring that 60' down by .1-.2. Add some more experience and you should be able to see mid 12's I think.

I was considering doing the same thing, and then I saw a set of 275s at the end of their life mounted on 17x8s, and the uneven wear makes it clear that you're not getting the most from the tire. The ones I saw were down to the belts in the middle of the tire, and the outer edges of the tire still had meat left. Could have been that the owner ran them overinflated, but I'd guess the fact that you're not supposed to run them on anything smaller than a 9" rim played a role in "bowing" the tread surface out a bit.

I have a set of 16x7 OE Mustang wheels that I'm planning on running 255/50-R16 MTs on. Its a slightly narrower tire, but the 16s will clear my brakes and the rim is the right width for the tire. Just a thought.

i am going back to the dyno on the 10th of july. my tune needs freshening up. i changed my inlet tube and my upper/lower intake. that made no change in how it ran, recently with the warm weather it has felt doggy. its loading up on fuel, ect. considering he tuned it to 11.3 AF before in much cooler weather, i will probably have him tune some power out of it.

i took note before that my tach was off 800 rpm's at redline. so 7000 rpm's should be 6200. i was shifting at 6000-6200 on my tach. so i was getting out of it at 5200-5400 rpm's, when i make peak power at 5600.

needless to say, next time back at the track on stickier tires or not.. there is some good gains left i think :nice:
