Okay, first off...don't laught at my reaction time. This was my first time at the track and running Pro Tree. Okay, laugh...it's worse than terrible!

Looking at my time slip, especially MPH, what can you see my car doing E.T. wise with an "experiened" driver? I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

You had a 1 second RT but still pulled a 12.44...not too shabby. What are your mods?

Reaction time doesn't impact 1/4 mile time -- you can sit there for half a day if you like; the timer starts when you break the beam. Reaction time is the time between the green and when you break the beam (it's measured slightly different at different locations). Slow reaction times impact who gets to the other end the quickest -- but not the recorded ET.

You get that 60' time down into the mid 1's and you'll be knocking on 11's; you have plenty of HP and torque for that.

those are actually really impressive times for your first time at the track. a 1.9 60 ft is decent with a 17 D/R, but with practice you shoud be able to bring it down quite a bit. I think a few more times out you may find some more mph in that 331, times are any ones guess, but it looks like your on the right track.

i wouldnt complain too much...those speeds are actually right on with a mid twelve. I think you might be able to get another .1-.15 off you 60' time, but like someone else said with a 17" D/R its going to be hard. How many runs did u take and how were you launching the car...was it spinnin? I think you are right were you should be...especially for a first timer. I think you can get into the very low 12's maybe some high 11's if you drive the snot out of it. good numbers and the car looks sick man...good luck

I've gotta say, if that was really your first time out you are doing awesome. Switch to slicks and you will be knocking on the 11's.

Well, I made 4 runs. My other best run was a 12.6

It was very cold and I was spinning all the way through 1st gear, some of 2nd too. I have a line lock and roasted the Nitto's for at least 10 seconds, but it didn't help.

My last run of the night, I ran a guy who had the same MPH, and he ran a 12 flat.

I think in order to get into the 11's, which many of you seem to think is possible, I NEED some good traction.

15" drag wheels, M/T Streets and a driveshaft safety loop are going on my Christmas list.

I plan on putting a Zex dry kit 125 shot on next year and wanted to get into the 10's. I'm hoping that's possible. If I can get my N/A times into the low, low 12's, maybe even high 11's, then to dance around a 10 might be possible.

I wouldn't say that I was any genius on drag radials, but using 16" BFG's (26" tall) I ran a 1.85 60' in my 351W car, but I had to burn the clutch all through first to get it that low. Based on your comments, a similarly light touch might be in order for you too.

I also found that about 1 second of stationary burnout followed by a moving "top fuel style" burnout up to the line worked better than a traditional stationary burnout on the drag radials. They didn't really seem to benefit from getting really hot like ET Streets or slicks do.

When you switch to either slicks or ET Streets, your MPH will drop because you will have a higher roll resistance, but your 60' should improve enough to give you a better ET.

Like I said, I'm no genius driver, but here are some comparative numbers for different tire combos on my setup:

BFG D/R 16" - 1.85 60', 12.88@113
26x10.5-15 ET Street - 1.79 60', 12.28@114.5
28x10.5-15 ET Drag - 1.61 60', 12.08@113

These times are all at Race City in Calgary, 3500' elevation, and it's always cold here (comparatively anyway). The ET Street times are with a stock transmission/rear end setup, while the others are with a TKO600/built 8.8 setup. The better transmission setup cost about 18 HP at the wheels on the dyno, which is why the ET Streets had a higher MPH. In a straight up comparison, they will have about the same MPH as the ET Drags.

At Bud Park in Edmonton (2200' elevation), I ran a 1.56 60', 11.93@116 on the ET Drags.

One thing is for sure, the ET Drags are really worth it. These days I just keep a set of 28" tall Sportsman Pros and the 28" tall ET Drags. If the rules say street tires, I run the Sportsmans, if they say slicks are ok, I run the ET Drags.

OMG u SUCK!!

Just kiddin, awesome times. I've got similar goals. Knock on 11s door with N/A and then add some juice and see what happens. Do you have any weight mods?

Thanks guys...

I'm going to go with the M/T ET Drags then. I have heard a lot of great things about them. What size rim, backspacing, bolt circle, etc. and tire do you guys recommend without any modifications to the fenderwell? I have 5 lug axles. I have no idea what I should be getting. I'm defintely a rookie at this. Thanks.

What about M/T ET Street Radials to keep on my 17" Bullits? I was hoping to fit a 275/40/17 on them just in cases where putting on 15" welds might not happen. Are they almost as good as the ET Drags?

Thanks.

You didn't mention if you upgraded to 31 spline axles did you?
The more you try to lower your 60ft and ET, the harder it is on your drivetrain.

What does your car weigh?

Something else that gets overlooked is the weight of the wheel/tire combo. Generally speaking, for the same overall height - same style wheel - same make tire, a 15" or 16" combo will weigh less than a 17" combo will. If compounds and overall diameter are the same, the lighter combo will generally allow the car to run quicker. More power is available to move the car down the track if it doens't have to spin a heavier wheel/tire assembly.
