We gonna try this Saturday looks like. I have some questions. I have a 302 and C-4 tranny. Also have Ron Morris performance adj motor mounts if that helps anything.

1. Do I have to remove the export braces (2 piece style), to drop in motor and tranny while they are attached together. I have a cherry picker.

2. Any chance I can do this with the headers on. (Patriot Tri-Ys).

3. What chain store carrys Duplicolor brand paints, looking for a dark ford blue to finish the tranny and driveshaft with.

I AM GETTING EXCITED!!!!!! After 5 months and an insane amount of money I might get to hear it purr soon.

Also if anyone thinks of anything I should REALLY be aware of here....let me know, I`ll use all the tips I can get.

+1 to that. After 3 removal and reinstalls of my 302/C4 combo I wholeheartedly encourage you to remove the export brace/monte carlo and headers before attempting to drop in your combo.

Additionally, if you value your under hood paint job, I'd recommend taking the hood off as well - if you haven't done so already.

This is a timely post since I'm getting ready to install my engine and transmission soon too. I've been debating on whether it is better to install them as a unit or install the engine and transmission separately. I have a cherry picker and used that to pull them out as one unit but it was a little difficult due to the length of the whole thing. I banged up my compartment quite a bit but since I was going to paint it anyway I didn’t care at the time. Now that I have it all painted and the engine rebuilt I’m concerned about damaging the paint job. I’ll have a partner help me so any suggestions on the best way to go? BTW - I have a 4speed toploader and the car is a 66 coupe.
