well i took the new 07 gt stock down to the track for the first time.

I tried all diff types of things but not enough i forgot my tire pressure gauge so i left the rear tires @ 29 pounds.

I first started shifting at 5600 that sucked. So i did 5800 for the rest of the night, next time i might try 5900 to 6000.

I went through the traps just in 3rd, i tried once shifting from 3rd to 4th but that was worse.

I tried running with the traction control off and with it on.

Surprisely i got a better E.T with it on. Why? Cuz i can't hook for anything in 1st or 2nd.

I kept getting better each pass but still not quite there.

Started out the night with a 2.5 60 foot, then 2.4, 2.3 and the best 60 foot of the night was a 2.2 w/ taction control on leaving around 1500 rpm's.

Best e.t of the night 14.3 @ 100mph on a 2.2 60 foot. Spinning the tires in 1st and 2nd. 2nd gear is a spin fest every time no matter how i tried.

Maybe i need to have lower rear tire pressure or higher front tire pressure.

From what i see the car could be a 13 second car but isnt going to be easy on street tires. Sadly noone else at my track was running a new mustang besides this one guy in a stock 06 gt going 13.8 but he didnt know how to speak English when i asked him questions, I live in south florida and i dont know spanish = /

any tips guys? id like to try to snag off a 13.9 or so stock. ive tried leaving at idle and then punching it that was worse heh. my best run with Traction control off was like a 14.5 uber spinning. My dad said he heard my tires sreeching completely through 1st and 2nd.

:bang:

only thing im glad about is clipping 100mph.

it was a pretty nice night in florida, i know the track isnt the greatest they are re-doing the whole track this summer for three months. And yes its a bitch i have to go around the water and try not to touch it, its really tight right now how its setup.

I wish that guy spoke english cuz it looked like he had stock 06 on street tires going 13.8 on the same track only one difference he was in right lane, i drove down left lane and i never did try the right lane, maybe it hooks better. I'm gonna have to try right lane next time.

just learn how to drive your car right.

I'm not trying to b rude, but from what i read on how you shifted and drove, you drove like a grandma. In my 245hp 3000gt i ran 14.3 @ 99 with a 2.1 60ft (FWD) in san diego.

you should trap more like 102-103 stock not 100, which is relectice of your early shifts and slow shifting. Your launch technique of 1500 rpms is another big problem. keep it in the powerband off the line. you shouldnt have that tough of a time with traction if you can launch right. I know these cars have terrible wheel hop from the factory, but you can control it fairly easy if you really know what you are doing.

Screw what the other guy said, drop your tire pressure, you definiteley will get better traction. Less tire pressure forces the rubber into the groung harder and does not reduce contact patch size any significant amount if any at all. Heat them up just a little as well. no need for a big burn out. just til the tires start smoking. stage quickly and last to keep your tire temps as high as possible. Pump your front tires higher for less road resistance for increased trap speeds as well.

with some practice, you should hit 13.7's. shift at 6000 if you have no tuner, and learn to powershift quickly if you are willing to do that to you car. if you drop 60 ft time to 2.0 or even 1.9 with better shifting youll hit the mid 13's. good luck and it just takes practice and experience.

I have tried doing a small burnout and then a beigger one and have noticed with a little longer helps.I drop my rears to about 15 or 16 psi. When i launch i usually leave about 2000 or a little higher and slip it. I have been able to get a 1.9 60 foot and a 8.9 in the 1/8, but im sure i can get a 1.8 with a little more practice. This is a stock 06 GT vert with factory 18" BFG KDW's

But will it make a big enough difference to notice?

I went to the track last night and I leave the hole at 2500-3000 rpms, slip the clutch to about 5000, shift right at 6000, slam into second and get a little chirp, shift at 6k again, slam into third with a little chirp, cross the traps at the top of third right at about 6200rpms.

Doing that last night I cut (another!) 1.9 60ft on the stock Pzero Nero tires and a best of 13.177 @ 106. Granted I have a few mods, but you should be in the 13.5 range.

The key is to NOT dump the clutch. You have to release the clutch quickly but steadily all while pushing the gas down. If you do that right you wont have much, if any, wheel spin in first. 2nd gear wheel spin all depends on the track though.

Edit: forgot to mention, this was done with 36# in the tires too.

That makes it sound like your slipping the clutch ALOT... Alot of abuse, and wasted energy. Maybe just the way I read it... maybe its not as bad as Im picturing... just saying.:nice:

I find that a launch from 3500-4000 will be best because it is in the peak torque range and you dont just drop the clutch like said. you have to milk it a little.

The point is to accelerate as fast as possible with no wheel spin. To achieve that you have to start at higher RPM and feel the clutch. you may glaze it a little, but if you want the best times, that what you have to do. like your clutch? fine, have a worse et. Personally, i dont care for the extra et verus a good clutch, but thats what you would need to do. Either that or get some drag tires and dump the clutch. the tires will hook if heated and then you risk busting the driveshaft or rearend, but you wil get better times. just saying.

if its your DD and you dont want to break anything, dont go to the track. By going to the track you accept the possibility of breaking something and having to pay for it. so, if you go to the track, you might as well give it the best you can. Besides, driving the car hard is what it is built for. FORD enigineers took into account they would be driven hard, and compensated for that already.

you can shift as high as 6800 in these cars. I would never go that high, but people have done it, and it does help trap speed and et.

Last night I had to slip it a little more than I normally do. Too many ricers at the track going through the waterbox and horrible track prep. Oh well...I still cut a 1.9 60' on the stock tires and I was happy with that hehe

Damn FWD through the B.O.B.(burnout box).

1.9 is a good time on stock tires. what was your overall et? my track hasnt opened yet, but will be open soon. I cant wait.

Don't be too hard on yourself. It's good to have a goal but everything takes practice and the track is alot different then the street. Seems like the track prep was alittle crappy that day also if your spinning so much with a stock car. From my experience I run the fastest time when shifting at redline and power shifting. The 60ft is where you will pick up most of your et. I got a 2.0 with stock tires and normal pressure. The best way I can descirbe how I launch is bring rpms up to 2700 and when the 3rd yellow goes I let out the clutch as fast as possible with out spinning and as soon as its let out all the way floor it.
