First time using drag tires, how much psi?

I got some 215/60/14 BFG drag radials i will be using next week. What is a recommended air pressure to began running this at? What is the lowest I should run them at as well? Car is a 65 Stang, 4sp
3050 lbs car and driver. Thanks.

You could start at 18 psi and can go down to 16 psi. If you go too low (below 16 psi) the radial tire tends to loose it's ideal contact patch. Some cars with high torque can actually spin the tire around the rim if pressure is too low, but I don't think you will have to worry about that. Of course this is for drag racing and for everyday driving around town I would run at 26 - 28 psi. Good luck.

Not sure on a drag radial, but I use this method on a regular slick.

The best formula is to start higher PSI and find your sweet spot as it relates to hooking off the line and ET. Lower PSI will obviously help you to hook better but you will potentially lose MPH which could effect ET. You have to find your ideal happy medium which will yeild the best timeslip.

Not sure if people screw in a drag radial, never really paid attention, I have my ET Streets and my slicks screwed in to the bead as at the track my car turns the tire on the rim (or rim on the tire?) and I got tired of constantly getting out of balance.
