Well I just got back from the track...very disappointing night. My best was [email protected] of the times were 15.4 or 15.5. I couldnt get my damn 60' below 2.3XX, most were 2.4XX. I think I just need some practice...first manual tranny Ive driven at a track...20 PSI in the rear tires(street tires) 12 degrees timing, my only mod is a Tri-Ax, other than that the car is bone stock, even has the air silencer. I need tips! :flag: :p

Drag radials & gears will really wake it up.

I'm concerned with only 91.9mph tho, I think most people run ~93-94mph stock in the 5 speed speeds. I say get a baseline dyno, do a basic tune-up, and practice practice practice. I didnt really know how to drive it well until I owned it for a year. I look back now how I shifted and I was a complete nOOb.

Post the whole slip, that'll help a little too.

I was kinda disappointed that I was the only SN-95 Mustang there tonght..lots of New Edge cars and a few foxes. Imports are taking over :notnice: I usually shifted right around 5200 on the 1-2 and the 2-3.

Heres the whole slip:

60'...2.313
330'..6.531
1/8...9.988
MPH...70.45
1000'...12.950
1/4...15.412
MPH...91.91

I did have a few 92.XX MPH passes but slower ET...still a little low I guess.

I would suggest getting a dyno to make sure you are near the normal ~190rwhp and that the A/F ratio is where it should be. Then get modding. Most guys do exhaust, gears, and sticky tires. Thats about all I have done and I run 13.9's. Have fun with it, thats whats most important. It may not be the fastest car out there, but I'm sure its in great shape and its a blank sheet to make it whatever you want.

My first trip to the track with my GTS netted a 15.1 @ 95 mph. My sixty foot times were all around 2.3 (I can't drive) with street tires and a homemade CAI. Other than that, all else was stock.

That's all right. My first time out I ran a best of 15.4 @ 90.90 mph. It was with a 2.3 60'. The only things I did since then were pulleys and an O/R h-pipe, and I ran a 14.89 @ 94.xx, and that was with a crappy 2.4 60', and my tires were bald. If I could pull some 2.2 60's like I have before, it will be a 14.5.

Yeah times dont sound too far off. Thats right around what most run their first time (I went 15.2 at 91 stock) and a lot depends on track conditions, weather ect. I'd suggest icing the intake to get the car nice and cool. Its aways worked well for me. And like the others said Gears and exhaust do wonders. I ran 14.4 at 96 with just Pullies, CAI, h-pipe, catback, sticky tires and 3.73's. Thats with an auto too.

I guess I was just expecting too much for the first time out...I was hoping for some low 15s. I think subframe connectors are next on the list and then either gears or some exhaust. I want to get long tubes but that seems pointless on a stock car so maybe Ill wait a bit on the exhaust.

I'm going to disagree with that some lt's and a prochamber will help the car out on the top end side. Instead of it feeling like it dies at 4,500rpms it will pull more up to 5,200 rpms (after that the cam falls on it's face).

just keep going to the track, my first time out i went 15.5@93mph and now im running 14.4@96mph and i didnt change a thing on the car just gotta get used to it plus i would drop your tire pressure down to like 18psi, what are you launching at?

I tried a few different launches, the track sucked(little prep) so there wasnt much grip at all. One of my best 60's was with no launch at all...I think my best 60'(2.313) was with a 3000 RPM launch and dumping the clutch, but still lots of spin....should I launch higher and slip it?

i think thats your problem there i launch at about 2k and pull 2.1 or 2.0 60's i say try that next time
