first trip to the track

Nah,,look around, relax and have fun :nice: Look at the car next to you,he might be a rookie also and is just as nervous as you are."RELAX,and have "FUN" ,if you can do that you will do just fine :nice: Good Luck :nice:

Are you going out to firebird? I may wander out there after work, as for advice stay clear of the water box on the street tires, there tends to be a decent amount of rice out there that ALWAYS tracks water everywhere, have fun. Dan

I never said don't have fun!! I'm just trying to get him the best launch! We all know it's hard enough without any distractions! With a auto it's MUCH easier! Not much else to do but tach up and go!! It's all good!
The track to me: is all about going as fast as you can and NO cops!!!!
Enjoy!

I am going to firebird. Stop by and say hey if you see me. i have a 95 laser red gt with a 5.0 emblem instead of the running horse.
I will do that if I make it out there, I'll be driving a silver 02 I am hoping to make it out there just have to wait and see how the day unfolds. Dan

Thanks for the advice guys I will let you know how I did tommorow night. Hope to see you there saxman. It would be nice to meet a fellow stanger. All the guys I know are on sport compact AKA ricers. Ecept on any SRT-4 that runs 12.8 and 3000' elevation.

Hey guys thanks for the help. However my car did alot worse than I hoped for. I did three runs my best being 15.9 @ 91 mph. I seem to lose alot of power in the top end. Also the track is at about 4000ft and it was around 80-90 degrees out there. I had little or no tire spin. Launched at about 1500rpms.

Any advice on how to improve would be great. I have to get some better gears. Also I was thinking about getting underdrive pullies and a shift kit. Any other bolt on you guys would suggest. I want to get in the 14's and over 100 mph by next spring. Thanks

PS I attached my two best time slips.

The best bang for the buck is a quality torque converter, with traction it will cut off 5-7 tenths :nice: Get a good catback, and look into a 65mm throttle body, and look for a cold air intake!! Yes,get gears,373's are perfect for an aode.

Dont waste your time/money on a throttle body right now. Get the torque converter, gears, shift kit, trans cooler, catback and off road pipe, and a cold air intake. I say 4.10's for an auto....that is usually the most popular ran with autos
