I just bought a kaenan heat extractor hood, and it looks like im gonna have to slot the hinges a little, and possibly move the hood latch over. Just wondered what some of you guys have ran into when fitting an aftermarket hood, and if you have any hints in doing it. Thanks, Will

Most aftermarket hoods need a little massaging to get them to fit. Just take your time and do it right.

:Damnit: I want to buy a Kaenan Hood but can't find them anywhere. Where did you get your hood. And do they have a web site.

Lol, I found mine off of corral. A local guy was selling it. He ordered it from them in florida. I had their number somewhere, I'll try to find it for you. They do have a website, but its not finished.
I think to get it to fit the best, im gonna have to slide the latch over a little, along w/ the hinges. Hopefully all will line up when im done:nice: See ya, Will

I elongated the holes in the hood hinge where it bolts to the wiper cowl area..That gave me F/R room i was lacking....undo your inner fender bolts to for some "gap" adjustment side to side...I also undid the 2 on the very bottom of the fender under the car...watch out for them as I snapped 3 of the 4 bolts...:Damnit: I would only do them as a last resort, it sucked bad drilling em out an re-tapping...We were doing all the fender/door gaps so that's prolly why we did the lower ones..
I have the H.O. Fibertrends R hood...The latch was mint for location...you have a little room on the latch bracket to shift things if needed...

Thats just the thing I was looking for. I have good front/rear adj. I just need side to side. Should I adjust the fenders first or elongate the holes and slide the hood? Im thinking hood first, but then I'll have to move the latch. I dunno:shrug: Also, do you still have your rubber bump stops in? And did you have to use hood pins? Thanks, Will

If memory serves me, it was fairly tit once we opened or elongated the holes mentioned, up there was where most my problem lied....side to side was purdy decent, dubbed with it some to get a nice line...
just bolt it up loosely and give a try...you can see the front/back and side/side just by pushing it down without securing the latch...then go from there...My latch works just like the factory set-up did..you have that 2nd "push" to set the latch...Kaenen has a good name so you should be good to go with the latch location...unless its shifting when secured...we just got the lines good, lined up the latch....low and behold it was there...
Rubber stops stayed....No hood pins for me...Thats why I went H.O....this mothers going nowhere when it latches...

I even cut my cowl opening to vent the heat out...

That's awesome. Yeah, its shifting when i go to push down for the second latch, and thats when it goes outta line. I'll try getting it bolted solid and straight, and then maybe it'll latch. I should get to do it tomorrow, so i'll wait and see. Thanks for the replies, i'll post how it goes tomorrow evening
