Found a guy local with a 97 five speed car he wants to swap to auto, and my car is a 98 auto, so I have some questions...
1. Are our radiators the same?(Probly not, so we'd have to swap im guessin)
2. Will my trans come out without removing my long tubes?
3. What do I need to do about the clutch cable/ quadrant thing mounting? a diagram of this set up would be nice.
4. How will i mount my clutch pedal? Are there holes in my floor for this? Do I need to drill them out? Whats up here?
5. What about the neutral/"clutch has to be in to start" set up?
6. We need to swap crossmembers and drive shafts, yes?
7. how will my reverse lights work if we swap?
8. Will my 8 bolt flywheel work with a 6 bolt clutch and pressure plate?
9. will we need to swap brake pedals?
10. His car is a t45 or t3550? (Im trans ignorant lol)
11. My trans is a 4r70w, right?
12. What needs to be done about the wiring harness issues? Could we just swap entire harnesses? ecu's?
If anyone has a write up on the swap, that'd be killer

1) The auto rad and the manual ones are different. The auto rad. has lines for the transmission cooler which will need to be swapped over. Also if your car is a 96 and his car is a 98, your rad. brackets will be different as well, so make sure you swap those over too.

2) It might come out, but I wouldn't bet on it. Some people over on SN95forums have gottent their 4R70W's out with long tubes still on?

3) Just use the stuff from your friends car. All of the holes/mounting brackets are there. You'll just need to pop out the plug in the firewall and: in the cable goes!

4) Pedals are cake to do. Just unbolt the auto stuff and bolt in the manual pedal box. It really helps to remove the seat for this operation. Makes life much easier.

5) In my swap I left the clutch in neutral switch alone, so my car can be "Started" in gear. No big deal though, doesnt bother me at all.

6) Yes... But I believe tha x-members are the same. I would swap them just in case though.

7) Your reverse lights will work fine when you swap harnesses. Simple plug and play job.

8) If you have a 96, you should have an 6 bolt flywhell as well, even if you are an auto.

9) It will be a straight swap when you "exchange" pedal boxes. The brake pedals will automatically be swapped out.

10) As someone already answered, T-45.

11) Yes.

12) You can swap harnesses but not ECU's. This is talked about in the auto to manual swap thread listed above. The 96-97 ECU's are different from the 98's.

I just did this swap not too long ago so I have lotsa parts left if you need any.
Jay's writeup was on the money, and he is a supercool guy who will help you with any q's you may have thru PM.

If you have any q's for me I will also be glad to help any way I can.

This is a very easy swap actually. I was surprised how quickly and painlessly it came together.

I have a 98, but it has a 2000 pi motor, so its an 8 bolt. can I still use my flywheel?
And If I leave my ecu in my car, will it run with a five speed? Or will i have to find a 98 five speed harness?
