Long Story Short

We've got a combo here that is WAYY off and is not preforming like it should (Keep in mind I didn't choose this combo)

Here's the specs

Eagle (14004) 347 kit
Bordix (1061004) Track 1 Heads
Vortech S-Trim (non intercooled 6 psi so far)
Comp Cams (35-312-8) CamShaft
1.6 Comp Rockers
Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake (7126)
FMS 42 LB injectors / 80mm Pro Maf
BBK 1" 5/8's Stortys
2.5" Off road H / Flowmaster Caback
Custom Chip (Still untuned w/base program.....A/F was 10.0)

The car is a heavy 94 GT vert with an AODE. Any suggestions to fix this combo...as the current one is not performing like it should

a little more info

On our shop dynojet it made 285hp & 350 TQ

The AODE has a 2500 stall that's it. Smaller pullys are on the way (3.33 is on there and 2.90 & 2.75 will be here tomorrow) The timing was set at 10* initial.....gas is premium (with some 103 added for safety)

With a A/F of 10...yes it still needs to be tuned. The Chip was burnt just for a base tune so obviously there is more in it there

Does anyone else agree that the intake is waaaaay small. The Brodix heads are 2x the size of the Performer RPM

Your problem is the choice of Torque convertor. With that cam and intake you will need at least a 3500 stall and a set of 4:10 gears. Also 10:1 is way off it should be around 12.5 to 1. The next thing I would do is contact the folks at Superchips and have a custome chip burned for it. Also what compression is the motor at. You should be close to 8.5 to 1 if not pull the heads and shave them. That combination should make close 400 HP after you make these changes.

Close to 400HP!? I would be seriously pissed if it was me and I only made 400HP with those parts. Or did you mean 400HP MORE than what its making now? LOL

One of the biggest problems is definitely the tune, 6 psi isn't all that bad for a street car, of course more is always better .

There are a few empty parts of the equation, like compression, do you have cats, if so, stock or after market, whats after that for a catback?

the trans, converter, and gearing are all going to drop the power to the tire, but at the tune of maybe 10-15 over a stick car, not a huge number.

I agree with the previous statement, long tubes, full exhaust, 9 pounds (or so, depending on compression) and a tune. You will be all after

Keep in mind this not my car and I didn't choose the convertor....It's got 3:55 gears......it is awaiting the custom tune (a tuner in town is doing it) the compression is around 9:1

Jason... the exhaust is a Off road H with a 2.5" Flowmaster catback

What are you doing with a supercharger on a dart block? Turbo it .... PLEASE! Your going to need a lot more boost. Hell, you have a dart block, might as well go all out on everything.. Thats why I don't understand a few things about your combo. The brodix heads are ok. After I have looked at them on their website, ive noticed that a 195cc intake runner has only yielded you 241/166 @.500. My PTL's yeild considerably more than that with 180cc intake runners. Also, the chambers are 68cc... Thats huge! You would need some domed pistons to get up to 9:1. My probe flat tops with minimal valve releifs are right at 8.8:1 with 64cc heads. I've been searching awhile for the specs on the Performer RPM, I have found nothing as of flow numbers or runner sizes.

I think its all in the tune and exhaust. Than motor should be making at least 350rwhp without the blower. A Victor intake would probably be a better choice than the RPM and you need bigger exhaust- at least long tubes if not 1 3/4 long tubes. With a big inch motor and a blower those shorties are killing you. Usually 1 5/8's shorties are adequate but your set up is a tripple whammy! Big inch, Big blower, Big Heads.....that alone is worth a ton of ponies.

I preffer Holley Systemax II intake due to runner design, it is ideal for supercharged engines. I would go 1 3/4 long tubes. I would boost 14-16psi and dont even get on it until its dyno tuned after a leap in boost like that. The block will take it for sure. BTW this months Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords has a article on a 5.0 supercharged and LaRocca swaps in a Holley Sytemax II over the guys cobra intake and it picks up like 40-50 RWHP if I remember correctly.

Small update......After finding out that the distrubitor hold down was not doing its job and that car's AODE had the overrive on......we got up to 399 HP.....before doing any tuning.......

just as we were start......BOOM...and third gear is no longer there.

SO the car is now Getting a new Tremec TKO-600 and 1 3/4' long tubes
