I've got the floor out of the '66. We have to do the firewall. Iis it ok, structurally, to remove the firewall?? Rockers are solid, just thought I'd get some input before I start removing it.

Where should this bracing go to?? Just between the frame rails?

do cross braces... form an x from the top right of the firewall to the bottom left where it meets the floorpan and vise versa. You dont want it to move at all. Make sure you jack it up by the frame rails before you do this... I recommend per frame rail and 1 on the crossmember in the engine bay. I learned the hard way about doing that..

There is no motor as well, That should help reduce the chance of it shifting. I'll snap a pic of it tomorrow and photoshop some x-bracing and get your opinions, Thanks!

cool... we just workd on a 66 and the inner fenders were cut off and the floor cut out after. The front frame rails were not supported by jackstand, only a jack. overnight the jack sank a bit and we didnt notice. Adding up when we cut the floors out, we cut 1" too far :(

I have 4 jackstands on the front, "that sucker aint movin no where" as I said when we set it back down lol. I was thinking, what if I took angle iron, and welded them to the frame with flat plates on the bottom, basically welding permanent jackstands....
