Hello All,
Just wanted to share my experience from a recent install of the American Thunder axle backs on my '06 Stang. This was a driveway installation with the rear of the car on ramps.
Removal of the stock mufflers went very well and was relatively easy. Other than having to work some muffler hanger bolts that were a bit hard to get to, the mufflers were a straightforward removal. I was worried that maybe the slip fit of the muffler may have been crimped from the stock clamps making removal of the mufflers difficult, but this was not the case. I hate wrestling with difficult exhaust in the driveway...
Installing the Flow Masters also went very well with the right side's alignment and fit picture perfect. The muffler was straight the stainless tip fit perfect in the cutout. The left side (driver side) installed just as easy, but was crooked and hung down, although was centered with the cutout. So much so, that it required loosening the H-pipe and twisting the whole assembly to get it straight. After some rubber inserts into the hanger to bring the muffler level with the right side, I was essentially done.
I am very happy with the mufflers with no rattles, and that good old American muscle car V8 rumble. Nice and deep, but not over-powering with no tinny resonance. Really brings the car to life compared to the stock mufflers. Give credit to the stock mufflers as they didn't sound bad, but these are definitely better..!
Attached are some comparison photos of the stock versus Flow Masters..

Cheers,
Ron

I did same thing but with no ramps, same results. They are quieter than the american thunder on my 91 but they were much easier to install. Just wish the 07 sounded more like the 5.0's. Sounds great but 0 - 2 HP on the dyno with 3 runs, waist of $70(dyno test).

I love the look they have(big 4" tips and the black body that "hides" under the car) and love the sound with the Pypes O/R H pipe I had problems with mine breaking baffles in the passenger side and "buzzing". Flowmaster sent me replacement ones and they have been trouble free for about 6K miles now.

For the love of gord dude, shut up! You are passing around old information. I mean welcome to the community but it's been long established that Flowmaster had issues with blown baffles very early on in their production run and they went and fixed those issues last year. The rate of incidents for people with blown baffles fell off completely and those that have them now are usually the ones with mufflers that were purchased from the early runs.

Hey , thanks for the advice. But I think that there are a lot of people are just finding out(like myself) that Flowmaster had an issue. So , don't be rude !! Not nice to tell people to shut up!!
