Flow Tech Flowtech Headers install GARBAGE

The reason i worded this thread like it is is because I want anyone looking for these headers to be able to see this thread on google.

Just installed a set of 87-93 Long tube Flow tech headers. Biggest hunk of junk I have ever seen in my life! I would never ever suggest anyone to deal with this company I can not believe Holley would ever have a knock off brand like this.

First let me start by they are not one piece tubes like all other headers out there they are all 2 pieces and will always leak unless welded(and you would never be able to install if they were one piece)on the count the craftsmanship is more like craftsman-**** (and im not using Craftsman tools name in vain),but a 10 year old could do better.After cutting the flange on both sides in two places to remove the upper tubes on the headers sound rediculous right? makes no sense in words unless you seen them trust me.

Secondly,The 02 bungs are just welded to pipe which is normal,but does not go all they way through it must be drilled out on both sides! We drilled them out to find out the passenger side is in wrong location can can not install 02 sensor because it will hit oil pan.So...that bung must be closed up again and moved to the rear collector where it should be.not in a single pipe .I have never seen anything like this in my life i must say again.

Also,the collector end where the Hpipe bolts up is resting on the floor boards and needed to be re bent. The paint put on them burns up in second (typical) just to keep rust down in storage.

The flange also has rings around each port where head meets flange (guessing to make greater seal),but no that is not the case it will never seal properly.The bolts that came with the kit are to large and will not clear the pipe.
The general tube that it is made out of is so thin we dropped one and it put a nice dent in it(not ding but a fatty dent).I'm sure they will burn up in short time anyway.

I can tell you how much of a P.o.S these are all day.Do not buy them for further note.Everything i read about these headers from past installers are true.I wish I could of steered the guy in a different route on header purchase,but it was too late they were already long owned.

I have called Flow-tech and they practically laughed at me... wtf kinda **** is that.
anyone have any questions or comments to add please do.

i remember trying to get flo tech equals on my car... spend hours trying to get them in, finally beat them in with a hammer, couldnt get a few of the flange bolts in, then they leaked and i had to take them out again... i gave them away and bought bbk's

I welded mine up and installed them with the engine in the car i did'nt have to cut the header flange either. I'll agree they are cheap but they work and i'm happy and my pocket is not lighter from buying some other header.

hows the saying go? you get what you pay for!me to tho that was my first mod when i bought my first stang. flow tech headers,wouldnt seal i think i spent as much on replaceing header gaskets as i did on the headers them selfs. but yep 100%junk! peace

you must work for Holly or something hah."I don't understand what you said at the end about buying other headers"anyway they are going to burn up on you(burn a hole right through it)good luck.02's are located in wrong place will give poor readings.they are SH IT HEADERS period.sorry buddy

I got a set of hookers with there old separate flange design nicest headers I have ever own.Also heard alot of good about BBK as well.

I've got a set of MAC long-tubes on my '92 with a built up 302 w/GT40P heads. They bolted right in the first time and have been reliable and leak-free for 6 years. Inexpensive and reliable.

There should be a sticky for junk parts so that guys don't go wasting cash on crap speed parts that are cheaply made, don't work, don't fit, etc...

x2 that is a very good idea i can think of a hand full of parts/manufacturers that shouldn't be dealt with.You always get what you pay for with any part.

Everyone that bough these and had problems should all say something to Flow tech to recalibrate the machines or fire the guy on the JIG.I know now why Flow Tech shortys are more than their LTs.

I forgot to add that after all this the headers were so bent toward the passenger side of block there's no other option but to get a mini starter. I already heard from past installers that the starter interferes with Flow Tech headers ,but was told to just relocate the starter wire an i did that. The headers are resting on the starter body and power wire connector.Not only is it grounding out the starter solenoid ,but if not bent further to the frame rail it will "heat soak" the starter its way to close.

Making a sticky of parts that are junk would be good.BUT ............then on the other hand ,you also have people that cant fix a cup of coffe ,trying to install auto parts, that will get pissed off, give up and just label something junk because of thier lack of mechanical ability.

Hey guys I helped red notch install these headers . They are huge POS . They are going to burn through within 6 months. The thing that really pissed me off the O2 Sensor location. The passenger side is right by the end of the oil pan so you cant mount a sensor in there at all. The drivers side is right where the oil drain plug is . So just to change the oil the guy has to grand 7/8 wrench and uninstall that sensor because oil will get all over it. Also just to get a good reading wouldn't you want the o2 sensors to installed in the collected where all 4 tubes meet. Installing it into one tube isn't going to be a good reading since one cylinder might fire different from the other 7.
