Hey everybody..

I recently bought a 1996 Mustang GT. Right after I bought it, I put Flowmaster 40 mufflers on it... but they aren't loud and aggressive enough for my taste. What mufflers could I get for around $200-$300 that would sound really mean? Thanks!

 so true. I have 40s and believe me, just get an offroad H or highflow H. Mine are almost too loud with my BBK offroad H. :chair: That is what my head felt like after going through an alley the other day. But the sound is

Get an O/R X pipe with some Pro dumps. That should rattle your dome a bit and wake the neighbors. Accelerate with someone from a red light and kind of get the RPMs at about 3000 each shift. Make sure you barely passed them with each shift so that they can catch it all from the rear at your shift point :D . The look on their face is priceless. They are going to either look at you with envy :nice: , or disgust :damnit: . But either way, the are definitely going to look.

Right, you could have just started with the midpipe replacement (either H or X) and then went from there. That piece is the biggest sound restriction and gives you all the flow and volume you are looking for.
If you run an off-road midpipe and either Flowmaster 10s or 40s dumped, you are going to be damned loud and will attract attention, both good and bad.

I agree about that O/R mid pipe. I had Flos on the car and it sounded pretty cool. It had a nice rumble sound. But when I put in the UPR Xpipe. DAMNIT MAN. It took my sound to a whole new level. It went from, that Stang sounds pretty sweet, to WTF does he has in that thing :nice: . I want it even louder. Live your life and live to tell your Grands how you had a musclecar that would wake the neighborhood. If I could, I would want mine sounding like John Force at mid-track.

People talk about drone. Drone? We don't need no stinkin drone. Like I said before, just pop in your favorite CD, install an amp with a nice subwoofer, turn up the volume, and there you have it, drone gone. As a matter of fact, I don't turn my radio on until I get into 5th gear for a while :nice: . Other than that, the only CD and sound I hear is that soundtrack by MustangExhaust While I Shift Through Gears.... :D

Ok -- where do I get an offroad X pipe? Would someone be willing to post a link?

And also -- Just take the X pipe to a muffler shop and he will put it on for me? Thanks.
I ordered mine straight from UPR for $139 brand new. Yeah I just took mine to a muffler shop up the road from my house and he installed it for $120. You have to also remember that some shops may not install them due to emission reasons and removing the cat converters. They could get a hefty fine for that. Although I've never seen a shop fined for putting an O/R pipe on someone's car.
Alot of guys install them themselves, but that's not my cup of tea. If anything is wrong, then I could just take it back and have them put it on the lift and correct it. It's a whole lot easier than me jacking it up by hand, getting my @$$ under there and taking a whole day.... :D . Or I'm just too damn lazy

I think it's just lazy  It's like 8 bolts with an impact, some break free, and your done. If it takes you more then 2 hours including jacking it up and finding the right tools then you have had too many beers to be starting this project today! LOL

I'm almost scared to do a prochamber, and I soooo want one, because that little spot behind the rear seat where the top goes when you put it down is like a FREAKIN ECHO CHAMBERRRRRRRRRR! I have a stock H and 40 series DroneMasters and I can't bearly talk on a cell inside my car. However I would still love to have a Prochamber and maybe some dumps after the 40's just to make those ricers think twice. Not to mention if they wanted to race or insult me I wouldn't hear them any way! LMAO!

Dynomax Race Bullets. :)

Yeah, I'm just lazy :D
But it's really going to depend on what type of sound you want. Do you want deep musclecar rumble or do you just want loud. SLP is pretty loud and sounds pretty good on a stock mid pipe. Put an O/R with that SLP and it's going to sound like @$$. Be careful of mixing O/R Pipes with your catback. Some Mids compliment a catback system, others make it sound like @$$ after eating Taco Bell. I like the way an O/R UPR X or Dr.Gas sounds with the Mac Catback or Flowmaster Catback. I think SLP or Bassani sounds better with a catted mid-pipe. Also think about if you're going to get LTs because then you are going to need a matching Midpipe.

But I think SLP or Bassani makes the midpipe that you could use either shorties or LTs.

Throw an offroad H pipe on it...

And they are really too quiet??? im looking for an exhaust, and most people have been telling me that they are loud, and the drone is horrible.

I have SLP headers xpipe with cats and loudmouth exhaust, and i cant get enough of it. It is the baddest sounding exhaust period. I am always getting compliments on it, and i even get thumbs up from old school cammed up muscle cars i see at car shows!! If u want the best sounding and one of the loudest (or maybe THE loudest) exhaust systems, get SLP.
